Director Andrew Dominik has announced he intends to start shooting his new film "Blonde" at the beginning of 2013. The film traces the glamorous and tragic life of iconic Hollywood bombshell Marilyn Monroe. Shooting was supposed to begin some time ago, but Dominik chose to work on "Killing Them Softly," which was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or this summer at Cannes. Needless to say, this delayed the Monroe project.

Dominik also confirmed that Naomi Watts would be playing the lead role, denying rumors she had pulled out. Dominik said the film would depict Monroe's life from age 7 up until her untimely death.

"The Assassination of Jesse James" director gushed with excitement about the project finally coming to fruition. "I love it. It's my dream project and I've been working on it for years and years and years," he said.

Dominik's "Killing Them Softly" will be playing in cinemas around the world at the end of November, starring Brad Pitt as a mafioso hit man in New Orleans.
