Cairo International Filmfest closing ceremony cancelled.

Dueto the worrying situation taking place in Egypt; the Minister of Culture along withthe management committee of the 35th Cairo International FilmFestival decided to cancel the Awarding ceremony which was due today at 6 pm atthe Grand Theater – Opera House. The ceremony will be replaced with a press conferenceto announce winners.

TheMinistry of Culture issued the following official statement:

"Due to the current circumstances andevents taking place in our country; we decided to cancel the Awarding Ceremonyfor the 35th Cairo International Film Festival at the Grand Theater –Opera House on Thursday 6 December 2012 at 6 pm. The Festival president andmanager along with the jury committees will announce results of thecompetitions and winners' names at a press conference held today at 1 pm at theGrand Theater. We hope that next year's edition of the festival will be atpeaceful times at our beloved country."
