The big-budget Hollywood adaptation of Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables" premiered yesterday in London. All of the film's big stars turned out for the event, along with a sizeable crowd that gathered in front of the Empire Leicester Square theater, awaiting the stars and the chance to take their photos with them.
The four main stars, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackson and Amanda Seyfried, strutted down the red carpet, pausing to take photos together and sign autographs. Other actors from the large ensemble cast also attended, including "The Dictator" comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter and Eddie Redmayne.
Director Tom Hooper was also there to see the fruits of his labor. "Wedding Crashers" star Isla Fisher walked the red carpet with hubby Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays the hilariously crude and inhospitable host of a French boarding house. His rendition of the raunchy musical number "Master of the House" should be one of the highlights of the film.
Hathaway was radiant in a flowing, pearly white gown by Givenchy. The beautiful Amanda Seyfried wore a simple black dress by Balenciaga.
"Les Miserables" comes out in American theaters on December 25, and in British theaters on January 11.
