Yesterday, the first Arab Radio and Television Mondial had its grand opening at the feet of the Giza pyramids. In attendance were Egyptian Minister of Culture Mohamed Saber Arab, president of the festival and head of the Arab Producers Union Dr. Ibrahim Abu Zekri, in addition to delegations from a number of participating Arab countries like Sudan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Syria, as well as Egypt, which hosted the gathering.

The organizing committee of the event informed that the cost of the event had just reached its budget of nearly one million pounds after securing Egypt's most iconic historical site, the great pyramids of Giza.

Although the location was far enough away from ongoing demonstrations and clashes, the opening ceremony failed to bring out a lot of stars, with the exception of Kamal Abu Raya, Inas Ezz El Din, Tunisian actress Sanaa Youssef, and Syrian singer Waad El-Bahari.
