A whopping 13 million dollars for “The Hobbit” first night in theaters.

After premiering in 3100 theaters in the US; the first of “TheHobbit” trilogy made 13 million dollars setting the first record of many expected for it by EW.

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” grand opening revived thecinema industry in the US after the set back of “Playing for Keeps” and “KillingThem Softly” which hardly made that number in their week premiere.

The first part of the prequel of “The Lord of The Rings” is expected to score the fifth high week premiere this year after “The Avengers” who has the highest week openingwith 207.4 million, next is “The Dark Knight Rises” with 160.9 million,followed by “The Hunger Games” with 152.5 million and “Breaking Dawn – 2 “ with141.1 million.
