The Oscars pushes “Zero Dark Thirty” to the top of the US Box Office.

After four weeks intheaters and receiving a whopping five Oscar nominations; “Zero Dark Thirty” tooka huge leap up from the 16th place in the North American Box Office tothe 1st place after collecting 24 million dollars to make its totalgross 29.4 million. The five nominations in Best Picture, Best Original Script,Best Actress, Best Editing and Best Sound helped Kathryn Bigelow’s film to beon top of the box office.

New comer “A HauntedHouse” which is a comedy that mocks “Paranormal Activity” comes in second placewith 18.8 million dollars after being released in 2160 theaters and the secondnew comer “Gangster Squad” comes in third place with 16.7 million and starsRyan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Antony Macke and Nick Nolte.

Crawling down from 2ndplace to fourth after making 11 million this week is “Django Unchained” in itsthird week and “Les Miserables” also took another step down to fifth place bymaking just 10.1 million dollars this week to make its gross a total of 119.2million dollars.

And in its fifth weekin theaters; “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” made 9 million this week tomake its total gross so far 278.1 million and replacing it in sixth week with “Lincoln”right after it in seventh place by making 6.3 million and “Parental Guidance”is pushed down to eighth place with 6.1 million.

The other huge leapthis week, but downwards this time, is for “Texas Chainsaw” in 3D which wentdown to ninth place after being on the top of the Box Office last week aftermaking just 5.1 million and “Silver Linings Playbook” went up from twelfthplace to the tenth with 5 million dollars this week.
