Angelina Jolie undergoes a breast cancer prevention surgery

Hollywood star and mother Angelina Jolie revealed in her article “My Medical Choice” published in The New York Times that she went under surgery last February and had a preventive double mastectomy by removing both her breasts. Angelina, who lost her mother to breast cancer in 2007 after fighting it for almost a decade and died at the age of 56- decided to be proactive and remove her breasts after doctors estimated that she has an 87% risk of getting it and a 50% risk of getting ovarian cancer. The 37 year old actress said that she carries the faulty gene “BRCA1” which increases her chances of developing those two types of cancer and decided not to deprive her children from their mother like she was. She added that her partner, actor Brad Pitt, was very loving and supportive to her decision and called out to all men in the world to care for the women the love and stand by them if they go through similar difficult circumstances.
