Actress and SNL veteran Kristen Wiig has said she turned down a huge studio offer to make and star in "Bridesmaids 2," a follow-up to the hilarious blockbuster that made $288 at the U.S. box office. Since then she's been riding a huge wave of success, reigniting a fiery discussion around women in comedy.
"It wasn't a hard decision. We knew during the first one, this was it. We would have made a lot of money if there was a second one, but that's not my goal in my creative life," Wiig said, using "we" to refer to her and her writing partner Annie Mumolo.
Wiig's co-stars Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy have expressed enthusiasm at a possible follow-up, as well as director Paul Feig. But Feig had previously said, "it really does fall to Kristen" because "that's her baby."
Looks like Wiig will have more time to pour into her upcoming projects, which include a role in the highly anticipated "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" and a role playing Annette Benning's daughter in "Girl Most Likely."
