Rihanna Donates $5,000 to Illinois High School as Contest Prize

A link always pays his debts, and Rihanna apparently keeps her promises when it comes to writing fat checks. The jet setting star recently donated $5,000 as a prize to a school in the state of Illinois following a performance there earlier this year. 

She performed at the school, which had won her "Shine Bright Like a Diamond" contest, which prompted students to show, in a video, their involvement with charitable organizations. According to a spokesperson from the school district, Jeff Arnett, Rihanna's management has been planning the donation since March. "The money will go to purchase new equipment for the students to use."
Rihanna, meanwhile, is currently in Europe on her worldwide Diamonds tour. She'll be playing in Scotland and the U.K. until the tour wraps at the end of September.
