Jane Lynch: Divorce, Birthday, and Co-Star's Death in One Week

" Glee" star Jane Lynch, who plays the fierce cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on the hit show, welcomed solemn news on her 53rd birthday yesterday. News of the untimely death of her "Glee" co-star Cory Monteith, 31, came out yesterday, also coinciding with the announcement that Lynch is filing for divorce. 

Her three-year marriage to Dr. Lara Embry, 44, is coming to an end due to "irreconcilable differences," according to the 52-year-old actress. 

Same-sex marriage is now legal in thirteen states in America, and in around half of those states legislation was passed by popular referendum.
