Fox has announced that the fifth season of its chipper musical show " Glee" has been postponed due to the untimely and tragic death of Cory Monteith, who was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room last week.

The show will now premiere on September 26 instead of September 19, and according to Fox's statement, the start of production will be delayed until early August. According to the series' creator Ryan Murphy, the first two episodes will air as previously written, and the third will deal with the death of Finn's character, after which the show will take a hiatus.

A few days after Monteith's death, Canadian police confirmed that the 31-year-old star had died from a fatal mix of heroin and alcohol. Monteith, who had really turned his life around with "Glee" was a high school dropout and had struggled with addiction for many years. In March 2013, he voluntarily checked himself into rehab, with the support of friends, colleagues and primarily his "Glee" and real-life girlfriend Lea Michele, who is now reportedly and understandably devastated.
