Following the long expected breaking-up of the Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins by Egyptian security forces, actor Ahmed Wafik has stated that the removal of the protesters at Rabaa el-Adaweya and Nahda Square was a dispersal of a gathering of armed terrorists who sought to destroy Egypt.

Wafik added that how the Ikhwan acted afterwards, i.e. using of live ammunition in the streets, cutting off roads, and attempting to destroy the country, has proven that the Brotherhood is a "third party" in the events engulfing the country recently, noting that when the Egyptian revolutionaries were in Tahrir Square, they did not attempt to carry out acts of sabotage or terrorize their fellow citizens.

He stressed that the Brotherhood has nothing to do with Islam or nationalism, in light of the burning of Egyptian churches. Wafik says police forces have to deal with these very dangerous events with the support of the army in order to increase security on the streets.

As for the nationally implemented curfew announced this afternoon, he said it was a natural solution until the state of chaos that the Brotherhood has sparked is diffused. Wafik added that Al Jazeera's coverage of the events is biased and not truthful, and that the channel has become the official enemy of Egypt.
