Photos: Aida el Ayoubi Performs at Porto Marina

In the curfew-free other world of North Coast beach towns, some lucky citizens are enjoying the offerings, musical and otherwise, of the serene vacation spots. One such offering took place this past Friday, when artist Aida el Ayoubi performed in Porto Marina, the first stop in a concert tour. The concert drew in a large crowd of all ages.

Ayoubi, who came to Marina with her husband and her manager, performed her most beloved songs, including "El Midan," a CairoKee collaboration. The multi-instrumentalist also played the 'oud and the guitar on stage, where she was joined by a dancing troupe. The concert is just one in a series with the Amer Group, organized by Walid Mansour.

"El Midan" ushered in a new phase of Ayoubi's career. The artist retired in the 1990s after three successful albums of primarily love songs, then returned to music with a religious themed album and later a number of songs honoring the 2011 Egyptian revolution and its martyrs, which once again endeared her to Egyptian audiences.
