Young Egyptian actress, writer and director Doaa Teama is off to Oran, Algeria, where she'll be a judge at the 7th Oran Arab Film Festival, which launches this evening. Doaa will be putting in her two cents in the short film category.
Teama will be joining Jordanian critic Alaa Younis and Algerian actress Samia Meziane on the judging panel. Two Egyptian films will be competing for the prize in this category: “ Sahr el Farasha” (The Butterfly Charm) from director Romany Saad and “3 Shemaat” (3 Candles) from director Ahmed Fouad.
Other Egyptian submissions that are competing include the acclaimed drama "Asham" by Maggie Morgan, as well as "Harag w Marag" by Nadine Khan. In the documentary category, Wail Gzoly's "Erki" about the plight of displaced Nubians, is competing.
