Salama is on a roll (bad pun intended) in terms of representing the three major religions on screen: following this Ramadan’s “El Da’eya” (The Preacher) about an Islamic TV preacher struggling with deep inner turmoil, and the forthcoming “El Raheb” (The Monk) about a Christian ascetic monk with some, again, past trauma and inner turmoil, Salama will be starring in the new series “Haret el Yahud” (The Jewish Quarter).
The crew of “El Da’eya” will be back on board with Salama, as well as writer Medhat El Adl, director Mohamed Gamal El-Adl for the show, to be produced by the El Adl Group.
Meanwhile Medhat el Adl, writer of the series, said that he is currently writing the script, which tackles the aspects in detail of Jewish life in Egypt from 1952 to 1956. El Adl noted that it was still too early in the process to talk about potential stars of the show.
Hany Salama meanwhile is still in the process of completing shooting “ El Raheb,” production of which was halted due to Salama’s gig on “El Da’eya.” “El Raheb” is directed by Hala Khalil.
