Abu Dhabi Film Festival is celebratingthe Tunisian director Mofida El Telaly as part of honoring Arab filmmakers program. The festival will screen her directorialdebut “Samt El Kosour” (Silence of Palaces), which was also HendSabry's debut as an actress.
The 1994 feature is about a girlreturning to the palace where her mother used to work as a maid.While she's walking around the now deserted palace, the girlremembers her childhood in this place.
Other Arab directors will be celebrated in the program. Daoud Abdel Sayed's directorial debut, “ElSaalik” (The Vagabonds), as well as Radwan El Kashef's “Araq ElBalah”, will be also screened alongside the directorial debuts of Mohamed Malas, Farid Boghdeir, Ismael Ferroukhi, Merzaq Allouche, Ziad Doueiri and Ady Rashid.
In other news, the festival is showingthe Bosnian movie “For Those Who Can Tell No Tales.” The featureis about an Australian tourist coming to a remote Bosnian village onthe Serbian borders and discovering the history of the war atrocities.The movie is directed by Jasmila Zbanic, an artist who was ranked third as the most important personalities in 2006.
