Katy Perry Chosen as Goodwill Ambassador

TheUNICEF have chosen the American pop star Katy Perry as their new GoodwillAmbassador, in order to help youth secure a better future for themselves.

Perryis expected to focus on children and adolescents in countries with weakeconomy, who suffer from violence, mistreatment and neglect, inemergency and conflict situations.“Ibelieve young people have the power to change their own lives, with our help,”said Katy. “I am honoured to join UNICEF as a Goodwill Ambassador.

The "Roar"singer added that she will be doing her best to help children and adolescentswho come from such different backgrounds but want a brighter future.

AnthonyLake, UNICEF's Exectuive Director experienced the organization's satisfactionwith Perry's collaboration, considering her a champion among children, and thather voice would speak on behalf of all of their problems.

Perry visited Madagascar earlier this year, as part of a UNICEF campaign drawing attention tochildren-relatged problems on the island.
