'Frozen' Tops 'Catching Fire' at American Box Office

Theanimation feature ' Frozen' managed to top this week's American boxoffice list, in it's third week of release there, after advancingfrom the second position which it made last week, to the first,adding $31.6 million to its gross.

Thefilm is directed by Chris Buck, and is competing for the bestanimated feature Oscar. Last week's lead ' The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' stepped back to the second place this week, after earning $27million and dropping in gross rate by 63.6%.

Thenew-comer crime thriller ' Out of the Furnace', directed by Scott Cooper, landed at number three, collecting $5.3 million from 2101theaters across America. The film stars Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson and Forest Whitaker, and it follows Russel, who once released fromprison, finds his brother involved in one of the most violent andruthless crime rings in the Northeast that eventually costs him his life, and so Russel begins planning revenge.

' Thor: The Dark World' arrived fourth this week, after earning $4.7 million,and reaching a total gross of $193.6 million in five weeks. Anadvance was made by ' Delivery Man' which landed fifth this week, onestep ahead of last week's position, earning $3.7 million.

Inthe sixth position came ' Homefront' in it's second release week,summing at $15.2 million after earning $3.3 million. ' The Book Thief'managed to keep its position from last week, and added $2.7 millionto its total gross.

Thecomedy ' The Best Man Holiday' dropped from fourth to eighth positionthis week, after earning $2.6 million, and the British 'Philomena'landed at number nine with a gross of $2.2 million, and last came' Dallas Buyers Club' in a two-position advance from last week, andearned a sum of $1.4 million.
