Dubai Film Festival Screens “The Square” Today

The 10th Dubai Filmfestival, running from the 6th till the 14th ofDecember, is screening the Egyptian documentary “ Al Midan” (TheSquare). The movie is part of the official competition ofdocumentaries.

Directed by Jehane Noujaim, born inWashington and raised in Cairo, the movie has been shortlisted to theOscar nominations of 2014. It lately won Best Documentary prizefrom the International Documentary Association.

In the feature contest, the festival isshowing “Shlat Tunis” directed by Kawthar Ben Haneyah, Lebanesemovie “Tale' Nazel” for Mahmoud Hajeej and “El Sout El Khafy”for the Algerian director Kamal Kamal.

In the World Cinema section thefestival is screening Walt Disney's “ Saving Mr. Banks” starringTom Hanks as Walt Disney himself during the making of the classical“Mary Poppins” and the precedent persuasion of its writer toadapt her novel into a movie.
