Katy Perry's latest music video for the song 'Dark Horse' was considered offensive by a number of Muslims internationally, naming it 'blasphemous' as it contain a scene where Perry transforms a man wearing a necklace that is carved out with the word 'Allah' (God) into a pile of dust.

50,000 Muslims have signed an online petition demanding Youtube to ban the video, as " The video is considered as highly controversial to its viewers as a result of its portrayal of blasphemy…. since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition of God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames." Creator of the petition, Shazad Iqbal from Bradford, U.K, added " using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion." Most of the support for the petition comes from Britain but it has also been signed by supporters from Muslim-majority countries like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Qatar.

Neither Katy Perry nor her publicist have yet responded to the petition or the Youtube ban request.
