Angelina Jolie was surprised upon knowing that the real-life subject who inspired her second directorial effort ' Unbroken' is her neighbor.

After she settled on the story she would like to make into a movie and decided to meet the 97-year-old man behind its inspiration, she discovered that he's her neighbor whom she had been watching for ten years from her window having coffee.

The film is based on the book of the same name written by Laura Hillenbrand, a non-fiction about the ex-olympic champion Louis Zamperini, who was taken prisoner by Japan in the Second World War.

Jolie formerly elaborated the reason behind her passion with the story: "Zamperini's family thought he was dead during his imprisonment by the Japanese, but he managed to come out of all of this and arrive back to his home." Jolie founds that to be truly inspiring, and could have a positive effect on her three children of 5, 9, and 12 years.
