Lionsgate, producers of the blockbuster franchise The Hunger Games, have announced a plan to launch an exhibition that will offer “"interactive displays of authentic costumes, props and other elements," as well as "artifacts" from the sets of the films, starting summer 2015.
"Thinkwell is spearheading an initiative for line extensions of The Hunger Games and all of our other brands," Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said during a teleconference call, according The Hollywood Reporter. He also added that there is an intention to start exporting the museum internationally in the future.
The Hunger Games is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 must take part in the Hunger Games, a televised annual event in which the "tributes" are required to fight to the death until there is one remaining who will be crowned the victor. Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place in the games. Joined by her district's male tribute Peeta Mellark, Katniss travels to the Capitol to participate in the Hunger Games under the guidance of former victor Haymitch Abernathy.
