Actor Mohamed Abu El Sa'oud, who performs the role of the ape in the upcoming television comedy series “ El Amaleya Messi” (Operation Messi), has opened up about the difficulties he faces during the shooting of his scenes, in an interview with screenwriter and producer Medhat El Adl. He stated that miming the ape is extremely tricky.
He added that he has worked previously as an actor in Culture Foundations' theaters, and in numerous television ads, and a small role in the crime film “ Mesawar Qatil” (Snapshot). He also referred to the hard time young and aspiring actors have during the first years of their careers, and that he wished the art scene in Egypt was more focused on quality than on the egos of big stars and certain stereotypical elements of success, and that there is a general lack of “good spirits” that are essential to the making of any unique piece of art.
Abo El Sa'oud concluded by thanking the make-up team responsible for perfecting his look, and adding that he taught himself ape body language through watching documentaries, and without using the help of a professional mime coach.
El Amaleya Messi features Boshra, Salah Abdalla, Nabil Eissa and Omar El Said, with Ahmed Helmy voice-acting the ape.
