Egyptian director Maggie Anwar has revealed the reason behind her pulling her film “ Al Fatena” out of Wahran Arab Film Festival's 8th edition's, which started yesterday.
On her official Facebook account, Maggie stated that tardiness and poor organization are the main reasons behind her decision, while also mentioning her complete respect to the festival's board.
“Al Fatena” (The Charming) is a documentary about the late legendary actress Faten Hamama's last interview, in which she was involved hours before her death. It premiered in the most recent edition of Cannes Film Festival.
“Although my Visa was issued the very same day I approved the film's screening in the festival, I didn't receive an arrival/departure date from the festival's organizers, so I sent an e-mail stating that I can push my arrival date forward in order to lessen the burden on the organizers, and received a grateful reply. But then I requested that they inform me about the new date before 12 p.m, to no reply, so I sent back my decision to pull the film out and not attend the festival, as I consider what happened as an offense.”, Maggie stated, in her Facebook status.
