In a village in Algeria, one of two brothers marries a woman who gives birth to a paralyzed son, while the other's wife gives birth to seven girls and is about to have her eighth child, whom the husband believes will be a boy but turns out to be a girl. However, he prefers a paralyzed boy over a girl.
