Following a violent outburst with his favorite actor, Amr, film director Yehia (an alias of Youssef Chahine) scrutinizes his entire career. Remembering his first movie with Amr, Chahine traces what happened to Egypt and its cinema. While participating in a strike against the government's artists' bill, he meets actress Nadia.
