Bardis, a poor, orphaned college girl, lives in a working-class neighborhood with her mother, Sabha, who owns a small dairy shop and defies harsh circumstances. Bardis is in love with Ibrahim, an engineer whose father wants him to marry Samiha, the daughter of a major contractor.
After Abdul Ghani files a report against Sabha for selling spoiled milk, her shop is closed and she falls ill, while Hassan stands by her side. Mahrous confesses that Abdul Ghani has incited him, so he is arrested. As Ibrahim marries Samiha, Bardis flunks at college, and her debts accumulate.
As Bardis starts working in a restaurant, Hassan proposes to her. Bardis meets Ahmed Elwan by chance, and he's attracted to her and takes her to lunch.
Ahmed takes Sabha to the hospital to complete her treatment, and he pays Bardis’s tuition. As Ahmed tells his lawyer, Abbas, that he wants to marry Bardis, he is surprised when Sabha is discharged from the hospital without his knowledge.
After her marriage to Ahmed, Bardis and Sabha move to his mansion, so Hassan leaves his job working for him, while Bardis begins to suffer due to Ahmed’s jealousy, and she is surprised by the return of Ahmed’s wife, Dawlat, and Mervat, his daughter, from Paris.
Ahmed divorces Dawlat, while Bardis is still suffering due to Ahmed preventing her from leaving the mansion. Bardis meets Medhat, the lawyer, at the mansion by chance, while Ahmed transfers the ownership of part of his land to Bardis.
Bardis feels miserable because Ahmed keeps her locked in the mansion. Hassan goes to visit Bardis, but Ahmed kicks him out of the mansion, after which Bardis asks for a divorce. Ahmed suffers a heart attack after Dawlat and Mervat file an interdiction case against him.
After Ahmed dies, Bardis discovers that he had given up the mansion and antiques to the state, while she rejects the producer Ibrahim’s offer to produce a film starring her.
Bardis begins to fall in love with Medhat, who leaves the office of lawyer Abbas and opens his own practice. It's revealed that Medhat covets Bardis’ inheritance, and she agrees to marry Medhat.
Bardis marries Medhat after she paid the costs of the marriage. Sabha refuses to live with her, and Medhat’s sister Wajida settles with them in the apartment. Medhat begins draining Bardis’ funds, and she grants him a general power of attorney.
Wajida begins mistreating Bardis, who discovers the truth about Medhat and his cheating on her with Siham, so she suffers a nervous breakdown and is hospitalized.
It turns out that Wajida's husband had divorced her and married another woman, so she takes revenge on women. Dr. Salem begins treating Bardis, while Hassan and the police execute a request to inventory the contents of her apartment.
After he tells Siham the truth about Medhat, Salem threatens Medhat with telling Siham the truth. Medhat complies and divorces Bardis, and Siham refuses to marry him. Bardis is released from the hospital and returns to her home.
Salem asks Bardis to go visit Souad, the daughter of his friend Nagib who is unable to speak or hear. Her relationship with Souad strengthens, and the condition of Bardis and Souad improves. As Salem hires Bardis in the public relations at the hospital, he begins to feel love for her.
The relationship between Bardis and Salem becomes stronger, and Salem also gets close to Sabha and Hassan. Bardis marries Salem, who starts his project on the farm, and Bardis joins him. They also ask Hassan to join them.

After Salem has an accident and dies, Bardis collapses and secludes herself, but she remembers Salem’s words to her and returns to work on the farm. Bardis discovers that Salem had married another woman two years ago.
Bardis and Hassan begin searching for Salem's wife, Nagiya, and she discovers that she is in the hospital and has cancer. Nagiya dies and leaves behind a daughter with Salem also named Bardis, so Bardis takes her and decides to raise her.
