Sinbad is the son of one of the most famous merchants in Baghdad. Hassan is one of his friends, and unlike Sinbad, who is wealthy and resides in a large home, he is a poor boy who distributes water jars. Still, they are the closest of friends. Adventures are Sinbad's favorite thing to do, and he is fascinated with tales from his uncle Ali, the sailor, who brought him an odd-talking bird, Yasmina.
