The digging begins in the Suez Canal. Iftikhar kidnaps Asila because of her resemblance to Sakina, the daughter of Nazli who died, and Shalash looks for her. Iftikhar decides to travel to Istanbul with the girl after drugging her.
Mukhtar appoints Rabei' to be a builder at the Al-Halawany gate and an assistant in recruiting workers to dig the Suez Canal. Abdu Al-Hamuli tries to make it as a singer.
Nazli dies. Mukhtar decides to hand Hamza over to the army to discipline him. A decision is issued to annex the Gate to the land of the Suez Canal. Asila flees from the palace.
Mukhtar succeeds in finding Asila and bringing her home. As Abdu achieves great success as a singer, he decides to marry Shaaban's daughter. Hamza is drafted into the army.
As Abdu is preparing for his first concert in Cairo, the Khedive attends in disguise. Shalash agrees to Hamza's engagement to Hafsa before he is transferred to Egypt. Shalash feels sad after one year has passed since Asila's disappearance.
Salama succeeds in reaching Ismail Al-Muffatish, who succeeds in conveying the transgressions that are happening to Prince Isma'il. Salama's wife, Kawkab, succeeds in meeting Iftikhar.
Shalash decides to divorce Mariam, but she sticks by him more. Abdu goes to sing in Prince Isma'il's palace. Iftikhar organizes a reception for the women of the village. Princess Ashraqat hires soldiers to protect her.
Ashraqat shows her interest in Hamza. An assassination attempt takes place on Mukhtar Al-Kashef. Rabei' is assigned to search for every weapon in town. Ismail Al-Muffatish tells his friend that he likes Ashraqat.
Sa'id Pasha's health deteriorates. Muhammad Al-Massy proposes to Sokaina. Mukhtar decides to send Muhammad and Hamza on the Mexico campaign out of spite, much to Ashraqat's anger.
Asila chooses the name Almaz for herself, while Widad wants to return her to Iftikhar. Princess Ashraqat tries to find out who is behind Hamza's transfer to Mexico.
Abdu is weary of his wife's excessive behaviour. Sa'id Pasha dies after a struggle with illness, making Isma'il the new Khedive of the country.
Isma'il takes over the reins of government. Almaz (Asila) joins Sokaina's band after she was impressed by her voice, and De Lesseps attends. Mukhtar divulges company secrets, which puts him in an embarrassing situation.
Shaaban is saddened by the news of Abdu's divorce, and puts him in trouble when he and the rest of the band abandon him before a wedding ceremony. Khedive Isma'il orders to remove Mukhtar from his position and appoint his brother Sharif in his place.
Isma'il tells Al-Muffatish about his feelings towards Princess Ashraqat. Mukhtar tries to meet with De Lesseps in vain. As Iftikhar decides to meet Khedive Isma'il in order to make him pardon Mukhtar, he explains to her why he dismissed him from his position.
Mukhtar is prevented from entering the headquarters of the Suez Canal. Hamza and Muhammad Al-Massy receive news of their return to Cairo again.
Mukhtar asks Rabei' to find out which member of Al-Halawany family is behind his dismissal from work, and at the same time Isma'il recruits Rabei' to reveal to him what Mukhtar is doing.
Sania visits Princess Ashraqat and asks her to return her back with her husband Abdu. Muhammad apologizes to Abdu for what happened from his daughter Sania. Iftikhar discovers that the piece of jewelry that Mukhtar bought for her is fake.
Sokaina is jealous of Asila when she is asked to join her in singing, and she kicks her out. Abdu Al-Hamuli sings for the first time in Sokaina's presence. Shalash remarries Mariam after the divorce.
Hamza Al-Halawany is back in the service of Princess Ashraqat. Mukhtar asks Princess Ashraqat to mediate on his behalf to bring him back to work in the Suez Canal. Asila (Almaz) forms her own musical band.
Mukhtar divorces Iftikhar and seizes the palace after she learns of his marriage to Sokaina, and he leaks the news to Khedive Isma'il. De Lesseps offers Ismail Al-Muffatish to take the position of his advisor in the Suez Canal.
Sokaina is offered to perform at a wedding in Bulaq, but she retracts when she learns that it is the wedding of Muhammad Al-Massy, her old lover.
Rabei' offers Mukhtar to buy Al-Halawany Gate. Sayid El Qird begins his career in singing and marries Sania. Hamza discovers that Almaz is Asila. Salama reprimands Iftikhar for what she did in the past when she kidnapped Asila.
Sokaina expells Mukhtar from the palace. Princess Ashraqat discovers Hamza's love for Hafsa. Asila gets close to Abdu. Ashraqat's face becomes disfigured by thieves. Rabei' decides to tear off the sales paper to the Gate, and the Suez Canal is opened.
