Metwalli works in Hajj Salama's textile store where he is trusted for his integrity. Sabah wants to marry Metwalli but he rejects her.

Hajj Salama refuses his friends' advice to take a second wife so he could have a child. Sabah turns to her charlatan aunt in an attempt to get Metwalli to marry her. When Salama's wife Zubaida fires her, a vengeful Sabah tries to incite Salama against Zubaida

As Salama starts suspecting Metwalli and Zubaida of having an affair, he fires Metwalli and decides to take another wife, much to Zubaida's sorrow. But as he falls ill, it's Metwalli that stands by his side.

When Salama dies, his family tries to seize his fortune but Metwalli steps in to help manage the store. The maid, Om Ibrahim, tries to convince Zubaida to marry Metwalli.

Sabah and Shawki get married. When Zubaida makes Metwalli her business partner, he proposes to her and she accepts. As their business grows and prospers, Metwalli and Zubaida have a son.

Zubaida falls fatally ill and passes away. Metwalli marries Amina to care for his son Saeid. Metwalli is saddened when he learns that Amina can not have children.

When Metwalli meets the widowed Naematalla, he frames his desire to marry her as a business venture for him to assume control of her late husband's business.

After Naematalla agrees to let Metwalli run her store, he meets Madiha whom he wants to marry. Amina and Naematalla are upset when he informs them.

As Metwalli marries Madiha, Naematalla gives birth to a son. Amina's uncle Mahmoud asks her to leave Metwalli but she refuses.

Metwalli is thrilled when he learns that Madiha is pregnant but Shawki incites Talaat against him. When Talaat and Mahmoud plot against Metwalli, he manages to foil their plot.

Metwalli tries to get his wives to get along. Mahmoud is arrested and Talaat falls ill. Madiha has a girl. Metwalli buys the late Salama's store.

Zaher proposes to Madiha's mother Nahed. Talaat's wife Fawzya tries to get close to Metwalli but Amina foils her plans. Metwalli sets up an accounting firm for Madiha.

When a theft causes Metwalli to suspect his friend Shalaby, he is devastated after Shalaby dies and he discovers that it was Shawki stealing from him. When Saeid graduates from high school, Metwalli refuses to allow him to go to college and instead forces him to join him at work.

Saeid is upset that his father won't allow him to go to college, but Amina helps him finish his education behind Metwalli's back. As Saeid starts working with his father, Naematalla tries to get him to marry her daughter Fatma.

Zaher starts working with Madiha. Saeid falls for his classmate Samira. He continues to refuse to marry Fatma despite the family's attempt to bring them together.

It's revealed that Samira is Fawzya's daughter. Samira dislikes Metwalli whom she thinks wants to marry her mother.

As they grow close, Saeid doesn't tell Samira that he is Metwalli's son. Amina advises him to tell her the truth. Zaher tries to get money from Madiha through Nahed.

When Samira tells Saeid that Metwalli attended her birthday party, Saeid relays the information to Amina, believing that Metwalli wants to marry Fawzya. But it turns out that he wants to marry Samira.

Samira refuses to marry Metwalli as his wives plot to prevent him from marrying again. Naematalla enlists the now-charlatan Sabah's help, not knowing her history with Metwalli.

Fawzya tries to convince Samira to marry Metwalli. Samira encourages Saeid to think about the future.

As Sabah plots to have her daughter Mohga marry Metwallis son Makram, Madiha suspects that Zaher is seeing someone else. He is indeed seeing Mervat.

As Saeid and Samira graduate, Saeid tells Samira that he is Metwalli's son. When he discovers their relationship, Metwalli adamantly refuses to let Saeid marry Samira

When he discovers that his wives have been plotting with Sabah, Metwalli punishes his wives and threatens Sabah. Olfat grows close to Metwalli.

Metwalli informs Amina that it was Samira he wanted to wed. Upon learning the truth, a devastated Saeid leaves Samira and marries Fatma.

As the family rejoices, Fatma and Saeid find it difficult to connect with Saeid hung up on another and Fatma feeling estranged from him. Olfat continues to try and get close to Metwalli.

Metwalli starts to fall for Olfat, Madiha fires Zaher when she discovers that he married Mervat. Saeid and Fatma grow close.

Naematalla and Metwalli are shocked to discover Makram's desire to marry Mohga. Makram has a breakdown when his father refuses to allow it. Metwalli threatens Sabah and Shawki

Sabah and her family are arrested for defrauding people. Metwalli and Olfat get engaged. Saeid learns that Fatma is pregnant.

Metwalli informs the family that he is going to marry Olfat. Sami confesses his desire to marry Saedya but he is concerned that his financial status could get in his way.

The conservative Metwalli grows annoyed with Olfat's family's antics. Metwalli summons Sami and his father when he learns about his desire to marry Saedya.

Metwalli approves Sami and Saedya's marriage. Olfat tries to take advantage of Metwalli but he doesn't let her. Mervat taxes Metwalli severely to take revenge on Madiha.

The family celebrates Sami and Saedya's wedding. Madiha enlists Ayman to get Mervat to reconsider the severe taxes but Mervat refuses. Metwalli falls gravely ill.

Metwalli is thrilled when Fatma has a boy. Olfat's father tries to determine the size of Metwalli's fortune. Metwalli tells his son Makram to watch Olfat.

When Metwalli tells his wives about the tax issue, they are prepared to give up all they have to settle the matter, except Olfat who asks for a divorce. It's revealed that Metwalli was only testing Olfat. As Saeid expands the business, the family celebrates Makram's wedding.
