Abu Riyad takes Salah home after he was shouting in the street, drunk. Maryam complains to her father that Alaa, Sultan's son, embarrasses her in college. Abdul Hamid, the owner of the mill, deceives his two sisters and takes over their share, so they send Kamal to confront him.
Salah burns Sultan's warehouses down, so Sultan goes and complains to the police. Abdul Hamid imprisons Kamal, and Nihad and Janan take him out. Nour, the journalist, decides to write a book about the Qanbar Ali area.
Muhannad and Jabbar save their friend Salah from the bullet he received from Sultan's men. Abdul Hamid is arrested on charges of trading in currency, so Kamal takes over the management of the mill. Nour meets Maryam and expresses his love to her.
Lawyer Sadiq delivers a copy of Nihad and Janan's ownership contract of a share of the mill to Comrade Shihab, head of the party squad. Salah hits Abbas, and Abu Riyad returns to teaching by the order of the party leader, despite his communist views.
Iraq is preparing to invade Kuwait, and Sadiq advises the workers to stock up on flour. Nour kicks Salah out of the apartment. As for Abu Riyad, he returns to work as a teacher.
Abbas enters the hospital and his girlfriend Reem visits him daily. Sultan tries to establish a relationship with her, and she deceives him into agreeing so that he can marry her. Sadiq marries Nihad in secret, out of greed.
Sadiq tells Kamal about his marriage to his aunt Nihad. As for Jabbar, he is looking for Salah with Muhannad, who denies his presence. The party honors Abu Riyad in appreciation of his efforts at school. Reem tries to influence Sultan to marry her.
Abdul Hamid and Sultan agree to control the flour market. Kamal asks Nihad to give him part of the house, and she acquiesces so that he does not tell anyone about her marriage to Sadiq. Abbas leaves the hospital and searches for Reem.
Salah goes to the area despite the fact that the police are searching for him and Jawad tries to dissuade him from doing so. Alaa discovers his father's relationship with Reem and becomes angry. Nihad quarrels with Sadiq and returns home. She also begins to learn about Kamal's exploitative intentions.
Abu Riyad falls ill and is admitted to the hospital amidst the sadness of his family and friends, and Salah visits him. Comrade Shihab suspects that Nour is a communist and decides to watch him. Sadiq thinks about divorcing Nihad, after taking Nour's advice.
War breaks out between Iraq and Kuwait, and the distribution of flour gets disrupted. Sadiq returns to Nihad and asks her to live with him in his apartment. Comrade Shihab searches for Nour, and also interrogates his friend Jawad.
Sultan's warehouses are burned and one of Abdul Hamid's guards is killed. As Nour tries to attract Salah to the Communist Party, Reem goes to live in Sultan's house against his son's will.
As the American army withdraws to the Saudi border, Nour and his friend fear that the revolution might fail. Abu Ryiad asks Jawad about his son, who belongs to communism. Reem becomes pregnant and Sultan becomes angry with her and they quarrel, so she leaves the house.
Madiha refuses to marry anyone other than Ryiad and is still waiting for him to return. Sultan discovers that Alaa is stealing from the company and fires him. Sadiq is promoted, and he agrees with Nihad to help him establish his new office.
Reem gives birth to a boy, but she asks for a divorce from Sultan, who refuses. While the police are searching everywhere for Salah, he hides with Jawad. Alaa tries to get closer to Maryam and Jabbar in order to find out where Salah is.
Kamal warns his aunt Nihad about her husband, Sadiq, and the latter meets a client in his office who likes him, but he tells her that he is married. Muhannad likes a collegemate and tells Salah about her.
Abdul Hamid reconciles with his sisters and Kamal and also discovers that Sadiq is exploiting Nihad financially. Maryam falls ill and her father takes her to the hospital and her neighbors are saddened. As for Nour, he is still detained and party agents are interrogating him.
Salah visits Maryam in the hospital, and she is very happy with his visit. Salah breaks into the mill with some men and distributes flour to the poor. Salah also agrees with Jabbar to give a sum of money to Madiha and Abu Riyad anonymously.
Nihad gives birth and Sadiq tries to fix things with her despite his quarrel with Kamal and his engagement to Rehab. As for Abdul Hamid, he asks Madiha to work with him in the clinic and she agrees.
Madiha works for Abdul Hamid, despite Abu Ryiad's dissatisfaction. Sadiq and Rehab agree to get married. Meanwhile, Nihad kicks Kamal and his wife out of the house. Nour gets out of prison and is poisoned. Jabbar takes Nour to the hospital, and Maryam rejoices that Nour is out.
Alaa gets married in midst of a lavish celebration in Qanbar Ali. Salah distributes money to those in need and is surprised that Madiha is working for Abdul Hamid. Sadiq decides to be frank with Nihad about his intention to marry Rehab.
Janan decides to marry a simple man and Nihad is happy for her. Abdul Hamid proposes to Madiha after getting her mother’s approval.
Muhannad asks Raya to get married, and she agrees on the condition that he completes his studies, so he goes to Abbas to help him and find him shelter away from the police. As for Salah, he gets into a relationship with Samah, who used to work in the club, and he decides to marry her.
Salah marries Samah and undergoes facial plastic surgery to get rid of the burn marks. As for Abdul Hamid, he marries Madiha. Nihad is waiting for Sadiq to return to ask him for a divorce. Muhannad is kidnapped and tortured, and Raya searches for him and asks Jabbar about Muhannad's whereabouts.
Samah gives birth to a child, and Salah is very happy. The surgery was successful, so much so that when Sultan saw him, he did not recognize him. Nour and Jabbar both work with Sadiq in his office
Alaa quarrels with Reem and hits her son, so Sultan kicks him out of the house. As Salah and his men rob a bank disguised as police officers, Jabbar becomes a poet and writes love poems.
Jabbar admires Dalal and proposes to marry her. Maryam refuses to get married despite her father’s insistence because of her love for Nour. Sadiq insists on not divorcing Nihad and convinces her to live with him and his son.
Kamal's business grows and Alaa joins him after Sultan registers all his properties in the name of his son, Faraj. The country's economic situation is deteriorating and the population is secretly storing flour and foodstuffs.
America strikes Iraq with missiles, amid the fear of the residents of the Qanbar area and Kamal’s fear on his flour warehouses. Abdul Hamid suffers a heart attack and Madiha calls Nour for help.
Saddam Hussein's regime is overthrown, his statue in central Baghdad is removed, prisons are opened, and chaos spread throughout all the provinces. Riyad returns to Al Qanbar Ali. Salah kills Abdul Hamid after learning that he is his real father.
