When Taheyya is arrested for having pamphlets in her home, she remembers her mother Fatma's marriage to her father Ali, and Ahmed, Ali's son, objects to his father's polygamy. Ahmed's older brother, Morsi, treats Fatma and Taheyya well. Hassan, Ali's younger brother, dies in a martyrdom operation.
As Ahmed takes advantage of his father's illness and tries to find his property papers, Ali dies of his illness. Soad, Ali's daughter, dies soon after her birth. Taheyya discovers her love for dancing at her half-sister Fatema's wedding, and she sees the singer Souad Mahasen.
While Taheyya lives in Ahmed's house after her grandmother died, Morsi fell ill, and her mother traveled to El Manzala, she suffers from abuse. Her mother tries to get her back, and Ahmed threatens Taheyya that he'll kill her mother, so she complies with his orders, and all her escape attempts fail.
Ahmed seizes all the property after Morsi's death, and Osman, Ahmed's son, helps Taheyya escape. When Taheyya travels to Cairo to search for Souad Mahasen in Emad El-Deen, she is sheltered by a dancer after learning that Souad had traveled to Alexandria, then she travels to Souad and lives with her.
Badia Masabni, the owner of the nightclub, appears. When Souad decides to marry and return to the Levant, Taheyya lives with Badia after her adopted daughter, Juliet, leaves her as she learns that she's not her real mother, and Antoine abandons his aunt Badia when he announces his conversion to Islam.
Badia's home is seized due to debts, and Taheyya begins rehearsing dancing. Taheyya rescues Badia from her attempt to commit suicide. Mariam's condition improves after taking care of her land with the help of her father's friend Amer, and Juliet returns to Badia.
Taheyya succeeds in her first dance after she struggled to buy her own dance suit and is surprised that her suit is torn off by Narges, the mother of the dancer Horeya. Badia is forced to obey Narges' orders to stop Taheyya from belly dancing.
Issaac, the choreographer, finds a solution for Taheyya by choreographing a foreign dance called Carioca. Mariam agrees to store weapons in her warehouse for the resistance. Taheyya succeeds with her new dance, and Badia drops Horeya, Soliman Naguib helps Taheyya train, and Antoine returns to Badia.
Most of the band members leave Badia because of her constant anger, and they head to a rival casino. Taheyya returns to dancing and begins dancing in films. When Taheyya's friend, Gamalat, is taken to the hospital, Badia is upset with Taheyya for her failure to work due to Gamalat's illness.
Amer meets Taheyya and tells her about her mother's bad conditions, and she hides her work as a dancer from him. News reaches of her presence in Egypt Ahmed, her brother. While Taheyya communicates with her mother through letters, she thinks of settling down with her mother in Cairo.
Taheyya meets her mother after she locates a private residence, unaware of the reality of her daughter's work. Taheyya is nominated to act in a big movie, and Fatma gets angry at her after she learns about her work. Badia opens a new theater, and Antoine proposes to Taheyya.
Taheyya quarrels with a prince from the royal family about his behavior while he is in the casino. Taheyya gets married to Antoine, and he lives with her and her mother. Badia is worried about how Antoine sees Taheyya, and Soliman is worried about Taheyya's trip to Beirut.
Antoine thinks of how to profit from Taheyya as much as possible. Taheyya's family learns from the press she's a dancer. As Ahmed travels to Taheyya in Beirut, she gets a restraining order against him. Taheyya succeeds in Beirut, is showered by offers to perform at parties, and prepares to travel to Turkey.
Taheyya discovers Antoine's intentions of accepting a commission for her dance. When she refuses to dance in front of Atatürk and is prevented from entering Turkey again, she travels to Europe. Taheyya divorces Antoine. She dances in front of the queens of Egypt and meets Mariam.
Taheyya gets married to Mohamed Pasha, and he is upset by Taheyya's constant preoccupation and by the way customers treat her. Naguib el-Rihani seeks to include Taheyya in his troupe. Taheyya is asked to dance in front of King Farouk I, who expresses his admiration for her.
Taheyya refuses to dance at a private party for the king, and she divorces her husband because of her work. Badia hires Samia Gamal instead of Taheyya after she leaves her. After Taheyya marries an American officer who converted to Islam for her and travels to America with him, she divorces him.
Taheyya shelters her sister's children, and she stars in a movie with Naguib el-Rihani. Sadat joins the King's Iron Guard, and Juliet's relationship with Badia is strained after Taheyya's success, as she is jealous of her. Taheyya helps Sadat escape during the attempt to assassinate Prince Othman.
Rushdy Abaza, Issaac's friend, appears. Taheyya shelters Sadat at her sister Mariam's farm. Taheyya is surprised by Badia's decision to liquidate her business and travel to Lebanon. Taheyya marries Fatin Abdel Wahab, but their marriage is not without problems because of her work.
When Sadat discovers that there are weapons in the farm's warehouse, he agrees with the farm men, with Mariam's knowledge, to carry out resistance operations. Taheyya divorces Fatin, and she warns Samia Gamal not to spread rumors about her. Taheyya travels with her husband, Ahmad Salem, to Palestine.
Taheyya splits up with her husband after she suspects that he's in a relationship with Asmahan. She gets to know Rushdy and visits Ahmad on his deathbed. Naguib el-Rihani dies. Taheyya marries Hussein Akef, the king's pilot, but soon splits up with him because of Rushdy.
Taheyya takes care of the wedding expenses of her friend, Gamalat, who dies before her wedding. Taheyya marries Rushdy, and Amer dies. The resistance operations are still going on from Mariam's farm, and Sadat joins the Free Officers.
Taheyya supplies Mariam's warehouse with weapons for the resistance. Rushdy and Taheyya's relationship is strained due to his multiple relationships. The Free Officers force King Farouk to abdicate his throne. Taheyya and Rushdy arrange to travel to Lebanon for work.
Taheyya meets Badia in Lebanon and discovers that Rushdy is cheating on her. Rushdy refuses to divorce her, and when Issaac and Soliman put pressure on him, he agrees. Taheyya returns to Egypt, and she joins Ismail Yassine's theater group.
Taheyya marries Mustafa Kamal Sidqy, who joins an organization against the leadership of the revolution. After her release from prison, Taheyya is surprised by her divorce, and Sadat explains that he helped her. Soliman dies. Taheyya contributes to the Army armament week and refuses to return to Rushdy.
When Mastoura, whom Taheyya shelters, is arrested, the latter is surprised to learn that Mastoura is a theft expert. Taheyya marries Abdel Moneim Pasha, and she decides to retire from dancing. Taheyya's mother dies. The Suez Canal is nationalized, and Rushdy still has feelings of love for Taheyya.
Taheyya helps Egypt by spying on the English officers, and she splits up with Abdel Moneim because of her work. She marries the doctor Hassan Hussein. Abdel Nasser honors Taheyya after she withdraws from the Cannes Festival due to the mistreatment of the Egyptian delegation.
Taheyya turns to production, and her niece, Nagat, tries to act despite Taheyya's refusal. Taheyya tries to commit suicide to force Hassan to divorce her after she learns of his relationship with Sabah. Rushdy marries Samia, and Taheyya meets Muharram Fouad at a party after her divorce.
Taheyya gets married to Muharram, but the marriage does not last long. Days pass, and Taheyya completes her seventy-fifth year. When Taheyya falls ill and is taken to the hospital, Samir Sabri, who treats her like his mother, does not abandon her. Taheyya recalls her marriage to director Fayez Halawa.
Taheyya remembers her participation in the efforts of the Red Crescent during the War of Attrition, her acting in the theater with her husband, and her politically-themed works, for which a decision was issued to ban their release, but when she threatens to emigrate, the decision is canceled.
Taheyya travels for the last Umrah with the help of Samir and Nabila, whom she met while performing the rituals in Saudi Arabia. Taheyya refuses all subsidies and forgives her husband, Fayez, after their separation, despite his seizure of her properties. Taheyya becomes seriously ill and passes away.
