When Abdel Magid's car breaks down, Malak gets in with him as she tries to escape the police. Abdel Magid gets arrested and he gives the police a false description of Malak. Abdel Magid meets Malak in Alexandria and proposes to her.
Malak and Abdel Magid have a girl that they call Malak. As a member of the resistance against the British occupation asks Malak to hide him in her house, Nadia is arrested and tortured to get her to reveal their whereabouts. Malak is killed. Abdel Magid takes his daughter to his first wife's house.
As Malak grows up, Abdel Magid wonders why she refuses to wed, especially since their colleague Hussein wants to marry her. Salwa is jealous of Malak. Malak meets Mahmoud in a seminar about women's rights.
When Salwa suspects that Malak is trying to seduce Nader who has just proposed to Salwa, Malak tries to convince her sister that she is not trying to drive away her suitors. Malak and Mahmoud grow close and he tries to defend his uncle when Malak says that his fortune is ill-begotten.
Mahmoud proposes to Malak but both Abdel Magid and Mahmoud's uncle oppose the marriage. Mahmoud's uncle tries to get him to work with him but Malak objects.
Ramez is angry with Malak for the report she made about his project. When Malak informs Mahmoud that her father refuses their marriage, he asks her not to leave him and goes to see Abdel Magid to convince him to let them wed.
Malak and Mahmoud wed. Malak's father tells her to go work with Mahmoud because she is not welcome in his company anymore. Ahmed and Salwa wed, and Abdel Magid allows them to live in the villa with the rest of the family.
Salwa gets pregnant. Malak asks her father for money for her and Mahmoud to open a plastic factory. Mahmoud's uncle, Sa'eid, advises Mahmoud not to allow Malak to mistreat his family.
As Malak and Mahmoud encounter financial difficulties, Sa'eid convinces Mahmoud to use illegal means to get money. Malak grows angry when she learns that Mahmoud is working with his uncle. After she passes out, Malak discovers that she is pregnant.
When Mahmoud is arrested, Sa'eid tries to convince him that Abdel Magid is the one who turned him in. Abdel Magid asks Malak to leave Mahmoud. Malak falls down and loses the baby. Mahmoud asks Malak for forgiveness.
Malak asks for a divorce but Mahmoud refuses. Ahmed offers to help Malak. Mahmoud gets in an accident.
When Malak visits Mahmoud in the hospital, he promises to do whatever she wants. Ahmed opposes Ramez's violations and his attempts to seize the company. Mahmoud asks his uncle for his inheritance. Malak and Mahmoud get a divorce.
Abdel Magid is furious when he learns that Malak and Mahmoud reconciled. Malak gives birth to twins whom she names Amal and Ali. Malak's sister-in-law tries to obtain the Canadian citizenship and refuses to return to Egypt. Malak tries to reconcile with her father.
Malak gets her PhD. Ahmed tries to quit in protest against Ramez's actions. Malak's brother, Bahaa, returns from Canada with his children, leaving his wife behind. Sa'eid asks the farmers to keep digging in an attempt to find more antiquities.
When Malak discovers the digging site, she quarrels with Sa'eid who vows revenge. Fekry takes the fall and gets imprisoned. Sa'eid plots with Umm Fekry (Fekry's mother) to poison Malak. Mahmoud eats the poisoned food.
Umm Fekry and Sa'eid accuse Malak of killing Mahmoud as the forensics report confirms that he was poisoned. Mahmoud's friend, Hossam, doesn't believe that Malak killed Mahmoud. Hassan asks his uncle Sa'eid to help him return to Egypt.
Sa'eid is concerned that the maid Na'eima suspects the truth and tries to intimidate her. The lawyer Nadia visits Malak and promises to help her. Abu Fekry (Fekry's father) discovers some hidden money and questions his wife who quarrels with him.
As Umm Fekry and the guard testify against Malak she gets sentenced to death. Nadia insists on taking charge of Malak's appeal. Sa'eid is furious when Malak's family wins custody of the children.
Hossam facilitates Sa'eid's attempts to take out a loan in exchange for a large commission. Abdel Magid is strict with his grandchildren. Ramez tries to convince Hossam to testify for Malak. Malak tries to reach Na'eima.
Fathy kidnaps the children and gets a taxi driver to drive them to the police so they could accuse Abdel Magid of negligence. Nadia asks the court to call in Na'eima and Radwan. Fathy asks Sa'eid to kill Na'eima. Nadia accuses Umm Fekry of the murder. Na'eima testifies for Malak
When Malak is released, she tries to see her children but they run away because Sa'eid convinced them that she killed their father. Fathy wants to marry Hossam's sister-in-law, Lina but Sa'eid refuses. Malak accuses Sa'eid of killing Mahmoud by using Umm Fekry.
Nadia confesses that she is the reason Malak's mother was killed after she gave away her location. Umm Fekry is imprisoned for 45 days, pending investigation. Malak gets her children back but they reject her and want to return to Sa'eid.
Malak returns to work. Hossam meets Malak and promises to help her see her children. When Sa'eid overhears Ali talking about visiting Malak, he tells the siblings that Malak is their father's killer.
Ali visits Malak who tells him everything about what Sa'eid has done. Hossam's wife, Noura, asks him to stay away from Malak. Fathy runs for the elections. Fekry is released from prison. Ali takes Amal to visit Malak.
Malak and Ahmed discuss Ramez's desire to seize the companies. Na'eim overhears Sa'eid threatening to kill Fekry after the latter asks him for the price of his incarceration. Na'eima runs away and takes refuge in Malak's house.
When Noura quarrels with Hossam and Malak after she sees them at a restaurant, Ali and Amal witness the confrontation and think that Malak and Hossam are in a relationship. Helmy slanders Malak to increase the sales of his newspaper. Malak replaces the empoyees who are spying on her for Ramez.
Malak supports Ramez's project despite Abdel Magid and Ahmed's objection. Hossam proposes to Malak. Malak quarrels with Sa'eid after she sees Amal in a nightclub.
Gina and Noura ask Fathy to seize control of Sa'eid's business. Malak reconciles with Amal. Ahmed warns Malak against Hossam. Malak agrees to Ramez's suggestion to give bribes to win an important tender.
Sa'eid tries to kill Malak but her driver gets shot instead. Abdel Magid tries to report it to the police but Malak calms him down. Fathy is concerned about Malak's threats. Ahmed tenders his resignation to Malak.
Nadia advises Malak against marrying Hossam. Fathy asks Sa'eid to give up the children to end the conflict with Malak. Amal and Ali learn that their mother is innocent. Sa'eid is furious that everyone turned on him.
Malak gives up her children's inheritance and goes back to the farmhouse with them. Sa'eid is committed to a mental institution. Malak asks Salwa to convince Ahmed to come back to the company. Ramez receives the loan and takes 25 million pounds.
Morsy offers to testify that Sa'eid tried to kill Malak in exchange for getting back with Na'eima. Malak tells Hossam that she knows that he and Ramez have seized the loan.
Malak discovers that Ramez tricked her into signing documents that could hurt the company. Fathy refuses to have Sa'eid released from the hospital. When Abdel Magid discovers that Ramez is trying to frame Malak for his own violations, Ramez has his father committed to a mental hospital.
Ali is accepted into the Navy Academy. Sa'eid has a nurse send two letters that incriminate Malak, Ramez, Hossam, and Fathy. Malak admits that she signed off on the loan and turns herself in as the other three are arrested.
The secretary testifies for Malak. Fathy confesses that Sa'eid tried to kill Malak and accidentally had Mahmoud killed. Ramez admits to his crimes and pledges to give the money back. Malak is released and Abdel Magid pays off the loans.
