After years of living abroad, Ahlam returns home to her humble neighborhood in accordance with the will of her father, Fostoq. Ahlam's old neighbor, Stania, tries to help Ahlam adjust to her new life.
As Master Qadora tries to get close to Ahlam to exploit her, she discovers that her father wrote over the old building to her.
When Qadora's plans to seize the building by getting close to Ahlam gets revealed, Ahlam refuses to sell him the building. Ahlam decides to buy a store and start a project to turn it into a tourist attraction site.
As Ahlam's project soars to success, a businessman called Mounir pulls out all stops to get close to her. As Ahlam discovers that she was double-crossed by Qadora and a businessman called Qaroun, she gets arrested.
After Ahlam gets released on bail, Qadora tries to pressure her to give up the building in exchange for the checks. When Ahlam discovers that she got old pottery jars, she decides to deceive a major antique dealer and sell him the jars to get the money for Qadora.
Ahlam, Mahboub, and the rest continue with their plans to deceive Amoud, the antique dealer. But when the latter is tipped off by Qadora, he takes revenge on them. Sarhan runs away from his own wedding.
Broke after their failed attempt to defraud Amoud, Ahlam and her team take refuge on a ship, where Ahlam meets Sarhan who took to the ship to hide. Ahlam decides to help Sarhan after she learns that he has psychological problems.
With Sarhan being pursued by mysterious men, Ahlam tries to learn more about him, but he refuses to tell her anything. Ahlam and her team take jobs with the ship's crew to save enough money to return to Cairo.
Ahlam admits to Stania that she fell for Sarhan. In a flashback, Ahlam reflects on her first love whom she met in France, and how he left her after she helped him get famous.
One of the clients on the ship recognizes Sarhan, but the latter denies knowing him. When Ahlam pressures Sarhan to come clean to her, he enlists Captain Azouz's help to transfer out of the restaurant so that he could remain hidden.
Mahboub suspects that Stania and Captain Azouz are involved. Sarhan proposes to Ahlam. When Stania finds an ad promising a reward to anyone who finds Sarhan, she reports him.
Ahlam, her team, and Sarhan flee the ship before the police arrive. As they hid in agricultural land, Captain Azouz tries to find them to turn Sarhan in and get the reward.
When Sarhan escapes alone, Ahlam and the rest look for him. It's revealed that Sarhan is the son of the millionaire Qaroun Al-Barshoumy, who accuses Ahlam and her team of kidnapping his son.
Sarhan hides in Muftah's land, recounting his story with his abusive father who caused him medical and psychological problems after he hit him on the head. As Ahlam and her team arrive in Cairo, they get arrested for kidnapping Sarhan.
During the investigation, Azouz denies knowing Sarhan or that he was on the ship. Ahlam and her friends get implicated in the kidnapping case. Qaroun bribes Bomba and Azouz to testify against Ahlam.
Sarhan's fiancée, Jihan, testifies against Ahlam. Qaroun's men locate Sarhan on Muftah's land.
Muftah gets hospitalized after someone causes him a head injury and leaves him in critical condition. It's revealed that Qadora and Qaroun are in cahoots. Qadora asks Qaroun to have Ahlam released, but Qaroun refuses his request.
Sarhan suspects that his father is behind what happened to Muftah, whose condition goes from bad to worse. Ahlam's house hangs in the balance when she is unable to pay off Qadora's checks.
Bomba finds Sarhan and tells him about Ahlam's incarceration. As Sarhan decides to return to Cairo, his father's men kidnap him. Qaroun stipulates that Sarhan must marry Jihan in exchange for doing what he wants.
Ahlam and her friends get released after Sarhan's return. Sarhan gets close to Jihan to protect Ahlam from Qaroun. Ahlam tries to rebuild her life in the neighborhood.
Qaroun's servant, Antouz, informs Ahlam of the sacrifice Sarhan made in getting engaged to Jihan to secure her release. Ahlam is shocked to learn the truth.
Sarhan keeps his distance from Ahlam for her own protection. Ahlam decides to launch another project in a bid for financial stability. Qadora informs Ahlam that Qaroun will use the checks against her if she goes back to Sarhan.
Ahlam helps Mahboub to hold an exhibit for his paintings. When Jihan's cousin Ashraf returns from abroad, he tries to get her away from Sarhan so he could wed her instead.
As Muftah recuperates, Sarhan forces Qaroun to compensate Muftah and his daughter Hanem by taking them to live in the villa. Ashraf runs into Ahlam in Mahboub's exhibit and falls for her.
Qaroun tells Antouz about his old love story with Qamar, which caused him a lot of pain when it came to an end. When Qaroun falls for Muftah's daughter Hanem, who resembles Qamar, Sarhan tries to get Qaroun away from her.
Ashraf proposes to Ahlam. When Sarhan learns about it, he tries to go back to Ahlam, fearing that she will marry Ashraf.
Sarhan discovers that Ashraf paid off the checks to get Ahlam to marry him. Sarhan gets in contact with Ahlam, who asks him to stay away from her.
When Sarhan vanishes, Ahlam admits to Antouz that she pretended to agree to marry Ashraf to put pressure on Sarhan, so that he could leave his father and Jihan behind and go back to her.
Qaroun tries to convince Hanem to remain in the villa, but she refuses. Qaroun meets with Ahlam and proposes that she travels abroad to stay away from his son forever, but Ahlam rebuffs him.
When Qaroun discovers that Antouz has been plotting against him for years, he decides to fire him. Qaroun marries Hanem. Ahlam decides to leave the country, but Sarhan catches up with her before she boards the plane.
