In hopes of starting a new life, Arthur heads to Australia with his family to buy a land and a big house. He starts building tents until he builds his big house later.
Lucy and Katie help their mother collect firewood. Mr. Dundan tries to convince Arthur to sell his wooden house. Lucy, Katie and their brother Ben bring an animal from the woods, where they're surprised by the natives.
As Arthur helps his neighbor Dundan build the tent, he gives him a piece of meat, but the dog steals it and runs away, so Arthur accuses the dog's owner of stealing it.
Ben travels with his father, Arthur, and they return late to town as they get lost. He meets Mr. Jean and helps him after injuring his foot, and Jean tells him that it is hard to get farmland in Australia.
Arthur offers Mr. Jean to stay in the tent until his foot is healed, and brings him a doctor.
Arthur brings his wooden house from aboard the boat, and keeps looking for a cart in the city to move it. He discovers that the land acquisition process is very difficult. Katie and Lucy help an animal recover from an injury in the woods.
Arthur finds a wagon to take his belongings off the boat. Katie and Lucy are surprised by their brother at sea calling for help after he nearly drowns.
Lucy's brother is saved from drowning. As Arthur's wife discovers that he has sold their wooden house to Mr. Dundan, he tells her he has bought a house in town for them. Clara says goodbye to John as he travels.
Arthur and his family move to town. Clara is surprised when John comes back to say goodbye to everyone.
Ben tells Mr. Dundan that he wishes to become a doctor despite his father's disapproval. The doctor is surprised to learn that the ship left without him.
As Clara and her two sisters arrive at the new house before their father, they resent the small house their father bought, and meet their neighbor. Arthur arrives and starts setting up an extra tent to accommodate everyone.
Lucy and the goat almost drown at sea, but someone saves them. Arthur loses his young son and everyone keeps looking for him until they find him. Mr. Dundan asks Arthur to build a wooden house for him, but the latter refuses because he is busy.
Lucy's goat gives birth and Arthur builds a barn next to the house. When Lucy's mother ignites the firewood, the fireplace stops working and Arthur thinks the house is on fire. Ben and the doctor arrive in the new town.
Lucy and her sister Katie begin to discover the places around them. Arthur offers that the doctor stay with them until he builds a house for him. Arthur rewards Hercules for helping his daughter Lucy.
Everyone dislikes the old and small house. Arthur tries to build his house but the weather is bad. Ben tells his father that Jean helped Mr. Dundan, but he gets upset at his son's associating with him.
Clara's mother suggests that the doctor put a sign on his tent announcing the establishing of his medical clinic. In the woods, Lucy and her brother Ben encounter a poisonous snake.
Clara's mother prepares the land for planting and Katie helps her. Their neighbor tells them that she is raising an animal to protect them from snakes. Lucy cries when Mr. Dundan's dog causes the death of a young goat.
Arthur is about to finish building the house, and Lucy is practicing tree climbing to get a koala.
When Katie tells Clara that she overheard her father talking about selling the house, Clara rebukes her and asks her not to eavesdrop again. They head to the market to buy household necessities.
For the second day in a row, Lucy and Katie start looking for the koala, and they are surprised by a wolf trying to attack some sheep and they save them. Arthur succeeds in digging a well near the house.
Lucy and Katie are surprised when the goat eats the plants their mother has planted, and they start growing worms for hunting. Meanwhile, Arthur and his wife head out to find new farmland to buy.
A wolf gets in the way of Katie and Lucy, and they are surprised by a small dog that looks like a wolf, but their father warns them that he is fierce. Arthur begins to try to make bricks for construction.
Ben takes the mutt to get rid of him, but he returns with him after the dog kept following him. Arthur agrees to keep him until he grows up. When he gets in the way of someone, Arthur warns them not to kill him.
Katie and Lucy help their brother Ben make bricks out of mud and straw. As they go to the river to wash up, they lose the goat in the woods, but the little dog helps them find it.
Clara helps her two younger sisters, Lucy and Katie, learn and study, and their neighbor starts going out after the death of her sick husband, and tells them that she is considering moving in with her family.
Lucy gets sick and the doctor treats her. Mr. Dundan also gets sick and the doctor has to pull out his molar.
Lucy is still ill, so her brother Ben makes a kite for her to cheer her up, and she informs Katie of the illness of their neighbor, Mr. Dundan.
As Lucy recovers, she returns to helping her sister Katie collect firewood, while dreaming of flying Ben's kite. Arthur finishes building the doctor's house.
As Lucy's dog grows up, she is afraid that her father will get rid of him, especially since he is a crossbreed with wolves, but her father promises her that he will not get rid of him unless he harms someone.
Lucy's dog manages to save a sick Mr. Long and get him a doctor. Long gives Lucy a baby sheep for her birthday, and everyone celebrates with her.
As Arthur buys a large farmland, his family rejoices. He is surprised when Lucy's dog attacks and bites Mr. Dundan's dog to death, and the doctor tells them that Lucy's dog saved his life.
Clara receives a letter from John telling her that he will be back soon. Arthur is surprised by Mr. Dundan's agreement with the owner of the farmland to sell to him instead of Arthur.
Arthur and his family move into a new house. John returns, while Clara works in a bakery to help her father. Mr. Dundan buys a new dog.
Arthur is forced to work in the quarries to help with household expenses. Lucy goes to school. Everyone is surprised by the collapse of the mountain at the quarries.
Clara's mother decides to go check on Arthur, as she and Clara worry about him. Arthur returns to reassure his family about his safety. The doctor is taken aback as his house goes up in flames, and tries to put it out in vain.
Mr. Dundan threatens to demolish the doctor's burned house, and the latter tells Lucy that he will have to go back to the tent if Dundan does so. Lucy finds a coin and gives it to Clara to buy a dress.
Lucy looks again for more coins. Ben takes his two sisters in his new carriage out to sea. Mr. Dundan is taken aback by thief robbing him.
The thieves escape after robbing Dundan and taking his car, and he informs the police. Lucy succeeds in helping the police catch the thieves.
Lucy and Katie worry about their father's business, as Arthur's foot is still injured. Lucy is upset about her father's decision to sell the sheep.
When Lucy gets hit by a car, the owner of the car takes her to his house to take care of her. As Lucy loses her memory and does not know who she is, her father and family keep looking for her.
Arthur keeps searching for his daughter Lucy without success, while the lady owner of the house tries, in vain, to help Lucy remember her family or home, and names her Emily.
Mr. Frank begins teaching Lucy many things, and his wife takes care of her, while Ben returns to town and is surprised by Lucy's disappearance. Arthur considers going to the police to search for her.
Arthur blames himself for Lucy's disappearance after selling her young sheep. John thinks that Mr. Dundan is behind Lucy's disappearance. Frank's wife takes Emily to a doctor to help her regain her memory.
Lucy regains her memory when she sees her dog and recognizes him, and she returns to her family, who is glad to have her back.
Lucy returns to her normal life with her family and begins milking the goat every day, and she is surprised when Mr. Frank visits her and gives her a gift. Arthur tells his wife that he is working in a mine again.
Katie falls into a big ditch and Lucy worries about her. After Katie comes out, she brings a little bear with her, which Lucy decides to raise. Lucy visits Mr. Frank's house and he offers her father a job in farming.
Frank tries to persuade Arthur to work on his farm. Frank's wife invites Lucy and her sister Katie to visit her. Lucy's bear dies and she is forced to bury him. Arthur agrees to the marriage of John and Clara.
As Arthur agrees to work on and move to Mr. Frank's farm, he is surprised by his request that he and his wife adopt Lucy.
Lucy's parents disagree with Frank's idea of adopting Lucy, who cries and tells Frank that she refuses to leave her parents. Clara and John get married.
Lucy decides to live with Frank and his wife, but when they learn of her noble action, they return her to her parents, whereupon Arthur gets his farmland and begins cultivating it.
