A father devotes his efforts to ensuring a decent life for his family and the mother shares the burdens of life with him, including fears for their daughters from spinsterhood. After the father's death, the mother finds herself facing a large torrent of problems, between a deviant son, another disabled one, and daughters who are about to get married.
