Set in the first half of the 20th century, the story follows the family of Hajj Younis Al Baqri, with whom his struggling son, Ali, and his wife, Safia, live, as well as his daughters and their wicked husbands. Younis suffers from poverty, what the English occupation is doing to Egypt and the constant complaints from his sons-in-law, which causes pressure on him and his son.
