Younis buys a house from Stauro after confirming the government's intention to demolish the buildings next to it in implementation of their plan to build the New Street. As Ali marries Safia, he and Hassan are arrested on his wedding day.
Helmy reprimands Ali and Hassan after he was arrested while attending the wedding. Safia is not spared from the mistreatment of Zahira and Aziza. Everyone is released after it is proven that they were not involved in the killing of the English soldier.

Master Wardani assaults Ismail and demands the drugs he stole. Ali refuses Abdul Hadi’s condition that he supply goods to stores in exchange for them not participating in the demonstrations. Fouad is released, and Abbas is martyred in a demonstration against the Milner Commission.
Zahira continues to visit quacks in an attempt to have children. As Nabawiya gives birth to a boy, she doesn't comply with Sayed’s refusal to let her return to work in the cabaret. Younis refuses to store the arms used by Hassan in his home.
Younis learns that Ismail has stolen from him. Abdul Hadi assigns Officer Inayat, and he instigates an attack on him, while Hassan and Ali are arrested for their solidarity with the merchants by burning English goods.

As Ali continues to suffer to provide for his family, he sells his shop and is forced to work for Hajj Karam. Fouad passes away following Rawiya's death.
