As Maher and his siblings go to celebrate their father's birthday, they discover that he left the hospital and took Reem to a hotel. Reem wants to learn about Ahmed's life story so she could write a book about him. Ahmed tells her about his father's marriage.

Ahmed recounts how No'aman married Akila and how her sisters-in-law put her through hell until she gave birth to him. Maher learns that Ahmed's hospitalization was due to a loss in the stock market exchange, and that they need to sell their share in the university to pay off their debts.

Ahmed takes Reem out to eat and tells her about Zakaria Adal. He recounts how No'aman and Akila bought a piece of land to build a house. Al-Mahrouky tells Maher to report Ahmed missing so that he could get the right to sign off on legal documents.

Ahmed tells Reem about how Sa'eda beat Akila, which prompted No'aman to move with Akila to their new house. Sobhy tells Maher that Ahmed paid off the stock exchange debts. Doha is upset with Omar after he agrees to use their trust funds to pay off the debts to the bank.

Akila and No'aman reconcile with Sa'eda. When Sa'eda dies a month later, Akila raises her children. In the present, Lina tells Maher to take money from Mansoura.

Mansoura agrees to give Maher the money. Awny hits Rania. Ahmed tells Reem of how he dropped out to help his father farm the land and how his mother refused to let him and enrolled him in school. He also tells her about Saleh's engagement to Hosna.

Ahmed recounts how Saleh returned to his unit in Palestine, and about his death as a martyr. He tells her of how his mother accompanied him to school to complain about Agamy, the math teacher who made Ahmed hate school.

Ahmed checks on Maher and the business. He tells Reem of how he and his friend collaborated to build a big swing and how they earned five pounds working it during Eid.

Ibrahim asks Fekry to leak the news about Ahmed's disappearance to force Maher to ask for his aid. Maher and Omar reprimand Awny for hitting Rania. Mansoura questions Omar about Maher's plan to sell their father's schools. Ahmed and Reem celebrate her birthday.

When Mansoura confronts Maher about the schools, he explains the truth to Omar. A flashback reveals that Ahmed failed the final year of primary school and repeated the year after Akila got sick. As he fell in love with Mariam, he helped her brother Hassan get engaged to Nagat.

Maher learns that Ahmed is in contact with Sobhy. A flashback reveals that Akila asked Ahmed to keep his feelings for Mariam a secret and that he learned that she got engaged on the same day he passed his exams.

Ahmed recounts to Reem how he and Mar'ei futilely tried to go to Port Said to take part in the resistance against the tripartite aggression. In the present, Maher questions Sobhy about Ibrahim and Shahinda.

Ahmed tells Reem about the accident that claimed Mar'ei's life and how his father helped him work through his shock. In the present, a newspaper reports the news about the escape of a businessman. When Mansoura tells Maher about it, he threatens to fire her.

As the news spread that a businessman fled with a loan, Maher visits the editor-in-chief and agrees with him to use his father's photos to indicate that his father isn't the businessman in question. Ahmed tells Reem about his mother's pregnancy with his sister Mansoura.

Mansoura avoids Fadlallah. Lina asks Maher to apologize to Mansoura. Ahmed recounts how Akila invited her cousin Kamal and his family to lunch and how he feels for Kamal's daughter Safiya.

Mansoura gets a new look. Maher apologizes to Mansoura and tells the family that he will get photos of his father receiving new machines for the factory published. Reem suspects that her father has married Shahinda.

When Ibrahim asks Awny to divorce Rania, Rania's mother threatens to interdict Ahmed if she doesn't get her share of the inheritance. Ahmed reprimands Maher for publishing fake news. Ahmed tells Reem that Shahinda is his girlfriend.

Maher learns of Rania's wish to claim her inheritance. Ahmed tells Reem that he learned that Safiya had gotten engaged after Akila and No'aman went to ask for her hand in marriage.

Ahmed tells Reem about his studies and about the Six-Day War and how the people refused to let Gamal Abdel Nasser step down. He recounts how Mahmoud was in bad shape when he returned from the war, and tells her of how he met her mother.

Ahmed recounts how he married Bassma before joining the army. In the present, Maher learns that Shahinda is Ahmed's wife.

A flashback reveals how Ahmed met Sobhy and how he was fired in favor of another well-connected teacher. It shows how he used his father's land to take out a loan behind Akila's back.

Ahmed tells Reem about the time he became the institute's director. Shahinda warns Maher against partnering up with Ibrahim, who has once asked her to set Ahmed up.

Maher learns that Sobhy is working with Ibrahim. When Ibrahim threatens Shahinda, she informs Officer Salah. Ahmed tells Reem about the reason he built a private school and how Akila and No'ama brought him his sister Mansoura.

Ahmed recounts how his attention to his work caused a distance between him and Bassma. As he tells Reem about Akila's death after he refused to approve Mansoura's wedding, he and Reem decide to go back.

Lina learns that Mansoura wants to wed Fadl. Ahmed is angry when he arrives to find the family gathered for Enas's engagement party. When he quarrels with Mansoura and reprimands her, she quits but Maher advises her to stand up for herself.

Ahmed learns of what Maher did with Mansoura. Awny tries to convince Rania that Ahmed married a young girl. Ahmed is thrilled to see the effort that Omar and Maher put in managing the factory.

Ibrahim asks Sobhy not to tell Ahmed anything about the stock exchange and the price of silver, but Ahmed learns the truth from Maher. Ibrahim steals a copy of the newspaper and the original files.

When Ibrahim threatens Maher's son, the two quarrel and Omar interferes, only for one of Ibrahim's men to stab him. Ibrahim and Awny are arrested.

Ahmed is upset when Shahinda shows up at the hospital. Reem decides to encourage her mother and siblings to take care of Ahmed to prevent him from marrying Shahinda. When Maher questions his father about Shahinda, he learns about the inheritance story that he had Omar tell to Rania and Awny.

Ahmed asks Sobhy to testify in Ibrahim's case. Ahmed approves Mansoura's marriage to Fadl. Awny is released. Ahmed buys Maher a gym. Shahinda gives her marriage certificate to Maher and decides to stay away from Ahmed.
