Suleiman El Abyad is a psychiatrist who is married and has two daughters. His mother lives with him, whereas his young brother lives in a room in an apartment owned by the fortune-teller Jannat. Jannat threatens to kick Suleiman's brother out if he doesn't agree to share his clinic reception with her.
A man whose problem is hysterical laughter comes to Suleiman's clinic for treatment, but El Sebouei accidentally causes his death. Jannat reads the tarot for a woman convincing her that her husband is cheating on her. Azza forces Sebouei to buy her bread daily.
A possessed man comes to see Jannat. Azza is ordered to get the incense to prepare the exorcism rituals and to bring Sebouei who backs off in terror. Suleiman sits with the man nonchalantly while Jannat and Azza believe there is a genie in the apartment.
Sebouei writes Azza poetry to woo her. Suleiman receives two patients; one of them suffers from extreme hallucinations and the other is a very young patient. Suleiman's daughter blackmails Sebouei to get 20 dinars in exchange for giving him a picture of Azza who sees her picture and snatches it away.
Due to the extreme cold, Fadela goes out to buy couscous and Sebouei is forced to fix the heater. Zeinab's mother visits the family with her dog that Suleiman instantly despises, so Sebouei decides to shelter it at his room in exchange for money.
A football-fanatic comes to Jannat and he waits at Suleiman clinic where he meets Sebouei and asks him to fill in the lottery ticket. Suleiman, meanwhile, gets a case of a man who wants a medical certificate that testifies he is a psychopath.
Suleiman returns from a conference and his family notices that he is a bit temperamental. Jannat gets really ill, but her stinginess prevents her from getting treatment. A patient comes to Suleiman's clinic and asks him to dance with her, and it turns out she has a crush on him.
A patient with the Oedipus complex visits Suleiman with his mother. Mehrez, Jannat's nephew, wants to propose to Azza, but Jannat refuses. Zeinab's mother tells them about her much-younger boyfriend and the family treats the matter contemptuously.
A client obsessed with playing cards comes to see Jannat, and at the reception, he sees Azza and hits on her. The patient, Sebouei, and Baghi engage in playing cards. A lady comes to Suleiman's clinic complaining of her husband's indoor nature and his negligence. Suleiman's wife complains about the same thing.
Baghi clashes with a client for not fixing the videotape. Quarrels occur over differences in the music taste; Suleiman prefers to listen to classical music while Sebouei prefers pop music. Fadela goes to the countryside to sell Suleiman's father's land.
A patient offers Suleiman to be his personal doctor. Sebouei resumes his practices and tries to incite Azza's jealousy. A journalist arrives at the clinic and conducts interviews with Jannat and Suleiman. Suleiman calls the patient who made him the offer, but the latter doesn't respond.
Azza asks Sebouei to take her in a car ride, but he doesn't have a driver's license nor can he ride. Sebouei decides to take Suleiman's car under the pretext that he will have it washed.
Suleiman takes Zeinab to the theater and Sebouei takes Azza out. Suleiman's daughter, however, is grounded for getting into trouble at the institute.
Sebouei buys Azza some sweets, but Jannat eats them. A man pays Suleiman a visit to convince him of the importance of life insurance, and Suleiman gets mad at him. Suleiman receives a stubborn man who refuses treatment, while Jannat receives a temperamental woman.
Sebouei decides to propose to Azza and tries to get the necessary money for their engagement, but Baghi refuses to loan him. Sebouei's dreams are dashed as Azza conforms to Jannat's instigation and rejects him for his lack of wealth.
Suleiman refers a patient to a neurologist. Azza and Jannat go to buy the engagement dress and other necessities. Suleiman returns home drunk after the graduation ceremony, and he spends the night conversing with Sebouei.
Suleiman decides to appoint a secretary for the clinic, and Zeinab and Jannat are getting ready to meet the candidates. Three candidates already leave when they learn that the reception is shared with a fortune-teller. Eventually, a candidate is chosen after Zeinab and Jannat approve of her.
Zeinab is shocked to see the new secretary who can easily pose as a candidate in a beauty pageant. The secretary makes many modifications to the clinic; the thing that apparently appeals to Suleiman. Zeinab mediates for Suleiman to get his job at the clinic back to be her eyes there.
Fatma falls with the systemic lupus erythematosus and Sebouei stays to look after her. The secretary resumes her attempts to improve the working conditions at the clinic, which incites Zeinab's jealousy. Jannat and Azza discuss the preparations for the engagement.
A quarrel arises between Fadela and Jannat over who will prepare the engagement dinner and who is a better cook. Azza gets impatient and goes to Sebouei who is shocked to see him fooling around with the secretary.
Suleiman wants to send New-Year greeting cards to his patients, but Sebouei makes an unintentional mistake. Suleiman is jealous now that his professor likes Dalanda. Zeinab's mother accompanies her friend's daughter Cloey to the hospital and asks them to host the girl with them for the new year.
Sebouei shaves his head and puts a perfume that causes him allergy, so he decides to wear a wig. A man who goes by The Poet goes to the clinic and writes a poem in praise of Dalanda, and things go wrong when Zeinab reads it. Azza rejects Baghi's attempt to approach her. Fadela is bedridden.
Everyone is awaiting Eid El Adha, and Suleiman buys a sheep and keeps it at Sebouei's room. Sebouei leaves the room door open and the sheep escapes, but it is safely found at Suleiman's clinic.
Suleiman receives a patient who imagines he is married to a fairy and they have children. Sebouei is deeply touched by the situation. The family rejoices at the news that Zeinab is pregnant. Suleiman gets a patient that was Jannat's client and he likes her and treats her nicely.
The residents of the building agree to file a complaint against Jannat if she doesn't repair the building. Fadela gives up cooking and Zeinab is entrusted with the chore. Suleiman summons his professor, his wife, and Housi. Baghi looks for Jannat who seems to have disappeared.
Suleiman invites his professor who encourages him to write a book about his experience with marriage, and Zeinab tries to read it secretly. Sebouei poses as a detective, and he questions everyone in the building.
Housi goes to Suleiman's house where he flirts with Fadiea, then he goes to Sebouei's room to rest. Baghi also goes there to rest. Jannat wants to increase the rent to take revenge on the residents who filed a complaint condemning her.
Sebouei and Suleiman go to a public toilet, and upon their return, Suleiman feels pain in his back and Sebouei in his neck. Fadela tells Azza that she will give her a really precious gift in the engagement ceremony.
Sebouei buys two rats and keeps them in a cage. Suleiman asks Dalanda to teach him how to send text messages using the computer. Contrary to his practices, Suleiman totally rejects the girls' wish to have their male friend teach them how to surf the internet.
Fadiea finishes the pillows and Azza greatly admires their craft, whereas Jannat refuses to buy any. Zeinab's mother wants to use the money she got from the project to go on a trip to Italy. Azza overhears Sebouei telling Dalanda he misses her and she quarrels with him.
Fadela gifts Azza with the pillows. Dalanda's ex-fiancé appears at the clinic and everyone is shocked to know she has a fiancé. Suleiman receives a strange case of a man who likes to be called names.
