Khalil covers up Salem's complicity with Abu Zaid. As skirmishes continue between Taki and his brother Nikola to convince him to marry Kariubi against his father Semarides' will, Taki accuses Nikola of wanting to deprive him of the inheritance with this marriage because of his father's dissatisfaction.
Semarides asks Taki to marry his friend's daughter, but Taki refuses. Taki fights with Khalil because of his refusal to defraud the peasants' rights and to be another copy of Hussein. As the news of Khalil standing up to Taki spreads, all the peasants go to the palace to demand their rights.
Takei uses gunshots to disperse the peasants, and the police assault them without investigation. When Khalil travels to find his father quitting his job because of his illness, he asks Khalil not to give in to Taki, so Khalil has to return to provide for his family.
Khalil goes with his father to the hospital for his illness and leaves him with Lashin, his aunt's husband, and his father recovers. Meanwhile, the attempts to involve Khalil in the theft are still continuing.
