Taher Al Tuwaibi threatens a gang of bandits. As Samiha is happy that her brother Taher has returned from his travels, Taher asks her to let him live in a new house.

Taher tells Sadiq and Barakat that his enemy is Abdulaziz Bey, who is involved in operations of blackmail and land theft. The French occupation threatens the people of the village. Hajar loves Taher and not Shaaban.

Taher tells his friends about his love story with Souad before she was killed. Taher wants to restore the old house and live in it, and decides to smuggle cigarettes to help the people of the village.

Taher and his friends kill French soldiers and seize their money. The French army attacks the youth of the village and imposes fines on the villages surrounding the scene of the incident. Taher asks for Hala’s hand in marriage, while Wahib asks for Samiha’s, and the weddings take place.

Four prisoners who killed a French man escape and ask Taher for protection, so he honors them. Then Taher learns of their lies and that Abdulaziz hired them to kill him. Hala tells Taher that she is pregnant.

Taher orders Barakat and Sadiq to train a group of young men and give them weapons. Shaaban falls in love with Hajar, who doesn't love him back. Hajar goes crazy and her mother takes her to a sheikh to improve her condition.

Madeleine, the wife of the French governor, confesses that French officers and local merchants stole a large antiquities collection, and that she is a researcher interested in antiquities. The French attack Hamed Bey's house and arrest him.

Amer tells Taher that Hajar has given birth to Ismail, but her condition is bad, and she is taken to the hospital. Abu Mahmoud, Hala’s grandfather, is paralyzed. The people of the village receive Hamed after his release from prison.

Samiha asks her brother not to let a stranger live in her mother's house. As Taher rejects Hamed's proposal to run in the election, he helps Hamed and Kamel win seats in the parliament.

Tayhoun tells Taher of Abdulaziz's attempt to rig the elections, and Taher prevents it. Hamed and Kamel win the elections. Zaki helps Taher to forge documents and steal Abdulaziz's property. The security patrol arrests Abdulaziz and confiscates his weapons.

Taher meets with the French military governor and asks him to forgive Abdulaziz. After Taher tells Madeleine that the stolen antiquities are with the merchant Ishaq, who lives in Jerusalem, she decides to travel there with the photographer Marcel.

Taher asks Kamel for Rehab’s hand in marriage, and he agrees. Fares kills Rustom instead of Hamed, while Taher tortures Abdulaziz for the attempt to kill Hamed. The French governor besieges Taher’s house and asks him to hand over Abdulaziz, but he refuses.

Taher asks Abdulaziz to apologize to Hamed for trying to kill him, after which Abdulaziz dies. As Taher and Rehab’s wedding takes place, Taher asks Rehab and Hala to live together. Madeleine tells Taher that she brought the antiquities from Jerusalem.

As Madeleine brings the antiquities to her home, Roger, her husband, plots to kill her. Taher searches for the antiquities to send them to a museum in Paris, while Madeleine suddenly dies.

Abdulaziz's daughter falsely claims that she has escaped from her family so that she can enter Taher's house and try to kill him. Roger resigns from his position as French governor and hides the antiquities in his bags, but they are confiscated by the new French governor.

Taher is happy when Hala and Rehab get along, and Rehab gives birth to a son whom Taher names Kamel. Yusra, Abdel Aziz’s daughter, loves Amer. After Zaki is arrested, Taher wants to attack the prison to get him out.

After Abdulaziz's daughter tries to kill Taher, she is sentenced to death, but Amer saves her. As Taher's brother, Mursal, returns from abroad and is saddened by the death of his mother, he decides to live in her house.

Taher agrees with the British on the necessity of independence from the French. Rehab tries to poison herself due to her illness and not being able to bear more children, but Hala saves her. The French governor asks Barakat for a plan to kill Taher and Sadiq.

Hala and Rehab leave the house, while Taher proposes to marry Horeya, Hamed's daughter. As Barakat tries to kill Taher, a ruling is issued to kill Barakat. Mursal is attracted to Hajar.

As Taher kills some Frenchmen, he arrests Commander Alain and imprisons him and his men, then agrees with the new commander to release them. Hamed decides to stay away from politics and parliament and have Taher run in the elections.

Horeya asks Sadiq to send men to collect taxes from the people of the village, but he refuses to do so without asking Taher’s opinion. The latter agrees to Hamed’s proposal to run in the elections, and Taher rejects Mursal’s marriage to Hajar.

The new French governor tells Taher that they will arrest him before he enters the parliament. Taher's men collect taxes from the people, while the local forces are suddenly ambushed by Taher's men.

Horeya asks to buy her pregnant maid Asma's baby with a lot of money due to Horeya's inability to have children, after which Asma aborts her baby. Horeya asks Taher to marry, while Hajar tells Mursal that she loves Taher.

Horeya collapses after Taher's marriage to Shehla. Abu Khaled, the governor of the national government, asks Taher to protect the French forces in the village, but Taher refuses. Horeya forces people to sell their lands and cuts off the hand of anyone who refuses.

Taher sees someone leaving Shehla's house. Sadiq drowns Shehla in the sea, after which he confesses to Taher that he loved her and then commits suicide. Taher tells his men about his sadness over the failure of his project, then he dies and his men drop their weapons.
