In 1970s Alexandria, Tuscanini's villa gets auctioned and sold to Mahmoud Al-Masri. Mahmoud's son Yousef asks him about his tepid reception of his uncle. Mahmoud's nephew Ahmed is upset that his father is deferring to Mahmoud. Mahmoud reflects on how he met Cleo and how her father refused to let them wed.

As Yousef disappears, his mother blames Mahmoud even after Yousef returns. Yousef's uncle Assem plots revenge on Mahmoud. Akram causes Mahmoud's company to close. Mahmoud reflects on his beginnings.

Ahmed quarrels with his father who tells him to pay more attention to his education instead of politics. Mahmoud's sister Fatma laments that she hasn't gotten married yet. Mahmoud asks Mostafa to stand by Yousef. He reflects on how he turned a possible loss in the stock exchange into profit.

Hussein Al-Dahshan kidnaps Cleo and questions her on her surveillance of him. After Cleo discovers that Mossad is Al-Dahshan's spy, Mahmoud fires Mossad. Akram wants to have a baby but his wife reminds him that they agreed to wait.

Yousef questions the reasons for his parents' separation. Mahmoud proposes to Cleo but she refuses him. Akram plots with Al-Dahshan against Mahmoud. A microphone is planted in Mahmoud's phone. Ahmed sneaks into Mahmoud's villa and takes copies of some important documents.

Mahmoud beats Ahmed and informs him that Akram forged the tape. Mahmoud remembers how he used to work with Akram's father and how he lost his property during Gamal Abdel Nasser's nationalization. Mostafa meets Mariam in church.

Mahmoud is shocked when he learns that Mossad is his uncle. Mahmoud's father asks Cleo to marry his son. Fatma gets engaged to Zain despite Mahmoud's initial objection. Yousef is upset that Mahmoud wants to wed. Mahmoud learns that they lost the tax case.

Ahmed's father tells him to stay away from politics. Mahmoud runs for a parliamentary seat. Ahmed and his friends are arrested after they protest against the decision to delay the war. As the students and the security services clash, Ahmed gets injured.

Cleo is arrested and accused of facilitating prostitution. Mariam grows concerned over the difference in religion between her and Yousef. Akram objects to Al-Dahshan's attempt to frame Cleo for a crime she didn't commit. Mahmoud asks Mossad to testify against Al-Dahshan.

When Mossad tells Al-Dahshan that Mahmoud wants to buy a piece of land, Al-Dahshan tries to buy it first. Cleo tells Mahmoud that Mossad betrayed him. Mossad dies in a car accident. Zain breaks off his engagement to Fatma. Ahmed joins an extremist group. Cleo leaves the country.

Yousef is arrested when he is buying flowers for his teacher. Alia is devastated when Ahmed disappears. Mahmoud brings Ahmed back from the extremist camp. Zain is missing. When Mahmoud learns that the government has put a ban on importing meat, he tries to stop a meat shipment from arriving in Egypt.

As Akram manages to prevent Mahmoud from using his new piece of land, Mahmoud decides to leave the country to look for a fresh start. He goes to Greece where he gets a job at the port. Cleo returns to Alexandria and learns that Mahmoud left the country. Mahmoud's father dies.

Mahmoud warns Yani about Manuli. He meets Katrina whom he saves from an attempted robbery. Mahmoud saves Yani after Manuli hires a guy to attack him. Manuli plots to have Mahmoud killed. Andrea's son Natalia falls for Mahmoud.

Khaled invites Mahmoud to his wife's birthday where he meets his old friend Shawky who is the vice president of the Athens Stock Exchange. Mahmoud suspects that an upcoming shipment contains either drugs or radioactive material and tries to prevent it from arriving.

Mahmoud is attacked. Manuli tries to convince Mahmoud to help him rob Andrea. A guy who works for Manuli is arrested for trying to kill Mahmoud. Yousef and Al-Dahshan quarrel. Akram continues to climb the ranks as the extremists that Ahmed is working with recruit more people.

Mahmoud rejects Katrina when she confesses her feelings for him. Mahmoud is appointed to Manuli's position and changes the port's staff. Ahmed gets arrested. Mahmoud tells Shawky that he wants to buy a share in the stock exchange.

Ahmed is sentenced to jail for associating with an extremist group. Katrina tells Mahmoud about how Alyanous blackmailed her into marrying him in exchange for sparing her fiancé. When Alyanous receives pictures of Mahmoud and Katrina, he searches Mahmoud's apartment and calls Manuli in to help.

Sh'rawy leaks condemning documents to a journalist to take revenge on Akram. Mahmoud confronts Natalia when he suspects that she is watching Katrina. Natalia tries to kill herself. Akram confronts the journalist Eissa who accuses him of using his office for his own advantage.

It's revealed that Akram's assistant Bahgat is the one leaking information to the press. Mariam rejects a prospective groom. Amin decides to leave Alia and travel abroad. Mahmoud discovers that Alyanous has planted heroin in his shipment.

Mahmoud tells Katrina about the setup. Mariam is forced to get engaged to Samir. Akram is devastated when he is removed from his position. Alyanous sends a sniper to kill Mahmoud but Katrina gets shot instead.

Mariam tries to run away with Mostafa. When Tarek returns to support Akram, a furious Akram confronts his wife who assures him of Tarek's love for him. Katrina asks Alyanous for a divorce. Cleo's daughter Yasmine is arrested during a demonstration.

Akram is offended when he is offered a lesser position in the government. Al-Dahshan asks Bahgat to release all those who were arrested in the demonstration except Yasmine. He blackmails Cleo into marrying him in exchange for her daughter's release. Natalia enters an auction on Mahmoud's behalf.

Yasmine rebukes her mother for marrying Al-Dahshan. Mariam gets married and Mostafa decides to leave. Mahmoud's attempt to insure his ship is stalled by George who is in contact with Alynous. Mostafa dies in a car accident.

Cleo informs Mahmoud that she married Al-Dahshan to save Yasmine. Assem asks Akram to partner up with him as he tries to become a commercial representative for Egypt in a European country. Alia learns that Ahmed is being tortured in prison. Yasmine leaves for the Netherlands.

Akram takes his nephew Karim with him as he goes to Greece. George and Akram plot to impede the insurance of Mahmoud's ship. Yousef meets Selena after he saves her brother from falling off a mountain. As they fall in love, Mahmoud is shocked to learn that Selena is George's daughter.

When George learns that Selena is seeing Yousef, he warns Mahmoud to keep his son away from his daughter. As George, Akram and Alyanous plot to get rid of Mahmoud, Katrina warns Mahmoud against their revenge. Al-Dahshan is dismissed and banned from running for another term.

As George threatens Yousef's life, Mahmoud sends Khaled and Abo Al-Arabi to keep watch over him. When George causes Mahmoud to lose a lot of money, Mahmoud sinks his own ship to get the insurance money from George. Nour asks Akram for a divorce.

George tells Selena that he will kill Yousef if they don't break up. Cleo learns that Yasmine's boyfriend is married with kids and tells Al-Dahshan to bring Yasmine back or she'll divorce him. Mahmoud buys a new ship despite Akram's attempt to sabotage him.

Yousef enlists Khaled's help in getting Selena a passport so that they could leave Greece. Alyanous is thrilled when he learns that Katrina is pregnant. Akram and George tell Alyanous about Mahmoud's tax evasion case.

George locks Selena in the house and sends men after Yousef. Mahmoud returns from Venezuela to discover that Yousef is missing. As he tries to find his son, he learns that George is the one who kidnapped him. When Nour marries Tarek, the furious Akram proposes to Gina.

Mahmoud and his men rescue Yousef. Alyanous is concerned when what happened to Yousef reaches the Minister of the Interior. When Al-Dahshan arrives in Greece to join Akram, Mahmoud enlists Cleo's help to get rid of them.

As war breaks out between Iraq and Iran, Mahmoud's oil shipment is delayed. Katrina loses her baby. Mahmoud recruits Karim and tells him to be careful with Akram. Alyanous resigns his office. George buys Mahmoud's ships for 50 million dollars.

As Mahmoud celebrates his monetary gain, George's financial position is shaken. Karim steals some important documents from Akram's safe. Yousef wakes up from his coma. Akram, Bahgat and Al-Dahshan are arrested.
