Mohamed warns his brother Rashid against treating his two sons, Faris and Shaman, unequally. Shaman suffers an accident, and Halima is paralyzed. On the other hand, Salma treats Fatima badly and overburdens her with the housework.
Fatima agrees to marry another man in order to get rid of the torment of Salma, the wife of her brother Diab, who embezzles money from Fatima's husband.
After Fatima's husband dies, she returns to Mohamed. As years pass, Faris and Shaman grow up, and their father continues to treat them unequally. Halima believes that Shaman died, and she dies in grief.
Shaman resides with his uncle Mohamed after his mother's death, but he is forced to return to his father's house. Fouad tells his sister of his love for his cousin Reem.
Shaman asks his father for a sum of money to spend on his studies and books, but he refuses and gives it to Faris, whereupon Shaman is forced to borrow from his friend Eid, and after he succeeds he decides to work to support himself.
Fouad marries Reem, but a quarrel arises between them because Reem does not obey him and always listens to what her mother Salwa tells her. As Shaman's psychological state affects him, the project supervisor thinks that he is mentally ill and decides to dismiss him.
Rashid dies. Shaman's mental condition worsens, and Fouad takes him to the psychiatrist, Dr. Hatem. Faris locks Shaman in, as his father used to do.
Dr. Hatem treats Shaman. Fouad divorces Reem. Diab agrees with Faris to seize Shaman's inheritance.
Sarah waits for Shaman to return because of her love for him. Fouad believes that Shaman has assaulted his father, while Faris decides to take him to stay in his house.
Faris prevents Dr. Hatem from seeing Shaman and completing his treatment, whereupon Hatem informs Fouad of this and assures him that Shaman is innocent of beating his uncle.
Shaman tries to escape from his brother Faris and is hit by a car. Mohamed refuses to wed his daughter Sarah to Faris, and the latter cooperates with his uncle Diab to get rid of Shaman and leave him in the desert, but someone takes him to his house.
Faris tries to get rid of all the papers in the company that incriminate him. It becomes clear that Shaman agreed with Eid to falsely claim that he is a psychopath in order to take revenge on Faris and his uncle.
The police arrest Faris. Reem gives birth to her first child and names him Shaman. Shaman marries Sarah. Diab dies of a heart attack when Faris comes out of prison and tries to take revenge on him.
