The events begin with Buran's poor family living together in one house. As Shafiq steals a ewe to get milk, Abu Najib (Najib's father) arrests him. Meanwhile, Abu Manal wants to marry Umm Hani (Hani's mother), and Hani wants to marry Manal.

Dr. Afif returns, marries Manal, and makes Abu Manal transfer the ownership of the room to him, while Abu Manal marries Umm Hani. As Afif refuses to let Abu Manal come to their room, Manal objects, so he divorces her.

Afif marries the daughter of Atef Bey, whose money he is after, but he goes bankrupt, while Manal gets back together with Afif because of her pregnancy. Afif marries Ghazala, whose property he covets, but she gets fired from the casino, so the three women live in the room together.

After Mufid sends Badi a visa to work in the Gulf, Badi raises one hundred thousand liras and gets the visa. Elsewhere, Afif makes his wives work as servants. While traveling, Afif's plane makes an emergency landing, and the visa expires.

Buran needs money to have the phone installed, so Afif pays the sum and rents it, then he starts renting out the phone to the people of the area, whereupon Buran has another line installed, so Afif steals it. As Buran has borrowed a large sum of money, Abu Najib detains Badi and Shafiq.

As a cold winter comes, everyone tries to get warm, but Buran is the only one who has money to buy diesel for the heater. Badi gets burned by the heater, while Shafiq is imprisoned for stealing electricity to turn it on.

Afif marries Hanan and divorces Ghazala after he was beaten by Mahmoud, who wants to marry her. Shafiq and Ghada quarrel because of his excessive jealousy. Also, Zahra quarrels with Badi because of his constant staying up late with his friends.

Afif marries Najla. Badi is fired from the lab because two people asked about him, as they thought they were cops. Shafiq is fired because of Badi. Abu Thomson turns out to be diabetic. Abu Najib arrests Badi. It turns out that those who were asking about Badi are friends of his challenging him in a game of tarneeb.

Everyone celebrates Shafiq's promotion at work, and Shafiq hires Abu Thomson as a foreman. Also, Abu Najib curries favor with Shafiq and asks him to have the police station and his house painted, to which he agrees.

Abu Thomson's cousin, Shawkat Bey, asks for his and his family's help to buy votes in the elections because he is out of the list, whereupon Buran makes Abu Thomson run in the elections, so the two quarrel, and Shawkat and Abu Thomson lose in the elections.

Buran and her family start selling cigarettes without a license, and as Abu Najib grows suspicious of the matter, he makes Afif and Abu Tamer inform him of their movements, so Buran makes them their partners, but Abu Najib exposes them and arrests Afif, Shafiq, and Badi.

When Badi suffers a malaise, the doctor asks for a lot of x-rays and tests, then he removes the appendix and the spleen, and the doctor refuses to finish the operation until the sum of one hundred thousand liras is paid.

The family has a serious accident and stays in bed for a long time, so they are unable to pay the rent, whereupon Umm Hani kicks them out and rents out the rooms, so they resort to begging, then Umm Hani agrees to rent the rooms to them again but with a tourist rental contract.

As he wants to have children, Abu Thomson divorces Buran and marries Maysa, the daughter of Abu Tamer, while Hani marries Lana, who bears him a boy and a girl, and Buran marries Mamdouh, Zahra's father.

Maysa treats Abu Thomson badly, while Mamdouh makes Shafiq apologize to Buran as he asked Ghada not to let Buran interfere in their lives. Badi and Zahra are distressed by Mamdouh's treatment of them. As Atef gives money to Afif, he divorces Sally.

Mamdouh starts to fight with the street vendors because of their loud voices, so Abu Najib arrests him. Maysa incites Abu Thomson to fight with Afif, who beats him and gets arrested for vandalizing cars in the street. Later on, Mamdouh and Afif are released from jail.

Shafiq, Badi, Zahra, Buran, and Afif’s wives are admitted to the hospital due to food poisoning, after which everyone recovers, and Abu Najib arrests Umm Hani for smuggling subsidized goods.

Abu Tamer, Abu Thomson, and Abu Manal try to bribe Badi to rent them the school booth, but he refuses and kicks them out. Shafiq then takes a bribe from Abu Manal and gives him the booth, but Abu Manal is unable to pay the levies, so he leaves it, and Buran rents it in partnership with Abu Najib.

As Buran buys a washing machine in installments, the shop owner asks to retrieve it, but they refuse, and Mamdouh beats him and goes to jail, so they sell everything they own to buy the washing machine, and Shafiq sells his share to Afif, who rents the washing machine to the people of the neighborhood.

After Mamdouh gets pensioned off, Abu Najib advises Buran to find a job for him, so he works in selling milk, but fails and beats Hani. He then works as a night watchman and takes Buran with him, and he fails again.

As Eid comes, Badi buys clothes for Zahra, whereupon Mamdouh reprimands him and makes him buy clothes for Buran and Ghada as well, while Afif borrows to buy his wives clothes for Eid. Abu Thomson also borrows, and Abu Najib tells him to either pay up or go to jail.

As the problems continue between Abu Thomson and his wife Maysa, she beat him, and he discovers messages between her and a young man, upon which she admits to Buran that she was in a relationship with this young man and they agreed to marry until Abu Thomson came and married her.

The poet Shaker Nayef fosters the talent of Badi, who becomes a famous singer, and Shafiq begins writing poems for him under the name of Shaker in exchange for three thousand liras per poem.

Badi continues to appear in television interviews, while Mamdouh marries Iman Fayez and refuses to divorce Buran. Elsewhere, the theater director refuses to give Najib a chance because of his shyness.

When Badi feels pain in his heart, he starts undergoing tests and x-rays unnecessarily and borrows money from Abu Najib to no avail, while Shafiq starts preparing for an earthquake because of what he read in the newspaper.

Badi agrees with Farid, who works for the municipality, to deceive the people of the neighborhood into thinking that there is a new road that will pass through their homes, and he begins collecting bribes to change the road plans, whereupon Abu Najib exposes them.

In agreement with the lawyer, Tawfiq deceives Buran and tells her that she has an inheritance abroad. Meanwhile, Abu Najib arrests Buran's family because of their debts.
