About Sultan Kahlan is deprived of children, along with his wife Qamar Al-Zaman. Minister Shaalan tries to convince the Sultan to marry his daughter so that she can bear him the crown prince, but the king meets the old witch who gives him and his wife an apple to eat, and they are blessed with the crown prince, and events follow.
