After his brother Hussam flunks, Shawqi travels to the village to reconcile him with their father, Alawi, which upsets Dawlat as she hates her in-laws. Samia quarrels with Alawi for her desire to complete her education instead of getting married, while Hussam dreams of immigration.
Hussam steals Alawi’s money to immigrate after Shawqi refused to lend him money, but before his departure Shawqi convinces him to return and reconcile with their father. Samia goes to meet Shawqi in order to convince Alawi not to rush her marriage.
Dawlat quarrels with Shawqi because of his siblings' repeated visits. Shawqi tries to change his father’s attitude towards Samia’s marriage to her cousin. It is decided that Samia will move to Shawqi's home to complete her education.
Samia's engaged to Ismail despite her refusal, while Dawlat resents Samia's presence. After Alawi expels Hussam from the house, the latter travels to Alexandria, while Alawi's condition worsens.
An operation is decided for Alawi, so Shawqi's father moves to his home, while Dawlat starts causing trouble between Samia and her uncle when the latter comes as she accuses him of insulting her, then leaves the house.
Samia returns to the village to reconcile Shawqi and his wife, while the engagement ends due to Dawlat's lies. Shawqi suffers from Dawlat's failure to fulfill her marital duties. Samia returns to Cairo and lives in the university campus.
Alawi dies, and Hussam returns as he gets involved in forging his passport and his military service certificate, so Shawqi expels him. As Hussam turns to Samia and the lawyer Ezzat for help, he is arrested.
Shawqi refuses to cooperate with his family to save Hussam, but advises them to appoint the famous lawyer Ibrahim, so Baheya decides to sell the plot of land and Dawlat proposes to buy it from her.
Samia refuses to sell her share of the land. Hussam is released on bail, with the help of lawyer Ezzat, after which Shawqi's uncle gets angry at Shawqi's decision to establish a project on the land and stop cultivating it.
Baheya gets sick; a verdict is issued against Hussam, so he decides to flee.
Baheya's health worsens and she is taken to the hospital after Dawlat informs her of the ruling against Hussam. Hussam meets Kawthar while he is fleeing and refuses to turn himself in.
Hussam reveals to his mother that Shawqi is the one who informed the police of his whereabouts, so Baheya leaves his house. Nadia goes through a psychological crisis after her mother beats her for defending Baheya.
Hussam returns to the village. Samia agrees to marry Ezzat. Shawqi discovers Dawlat's greed after demanding to expel his mother from Alawi's house. Samia discovers that Baheya is cultivating her land.
Hussam is arrested, and he serves his prison sentence. Problems erupt between Dawlat and Shawqi.
As Shawki divorces Dawlat, she sends a court notice to him to obtain his property that is registered in her name. Hussam reassures Baheya that he's completing his studies despite his imprisonment. Baheya fails to reconcile Dawlat with Shawqi.
After Dawlat takes the villa, she expels Baheya and Samia, and the company goes to ruins during her administration. Shawqi works another job, whose details he keeps hidden, while Samia sells his land to help Ezzat.
Shawqi reappears and takes Nadia to his home, whereupon she tells him about Dawlat's going through a rough patch. After Hussam attends Samia's wedding, he returns to prison.
As Nadia flunks in her studies, Dawlat admits that she is the reason for the failure of her marriage with Shawqi. Hussam makes Baheya sell her house in order to open a carpentry workshop after his release from prison, and she moves to live with Shawqi.
Hussam and Kawthar get married. As Dawlat is injured in a car accident, Baheya rescues her by donating blood to her. After Dawlat recovers, she remarries Shawqi on the condition that Baheya stays in their home.
