In Baghdad lives a simple family whose patriarch is Sheikh Ali, a hard-working man. He has a daughter, Najia, and a son, Abbas, who grows up and falls for Majda, whom Yassin's mother seeks to wed to her son, leading to a dispute between Yassin and Abbas and igniting revenge and a struggle for the position of head of the merchants.
