Gibran decides to return to Lebanon and remembers his life as a child and his father’s cruelty, the latter’s imprisonment, Gibran’s mother being forced to leave the farm and look for work, Gibran’s travel to America and his meeting with the photographer Fred Holland Day, who taught him literature and drawing.

In a flashback, Kamila forces Gibran to return to Lebanon to be near his father. Gibran remembers getting to know Josephine and falling in love with her, as well as the girl Hala, and the deaths of his mother, Kamila, his sister Salal, and his brother Boutros.

In a flashback, Gibran travels to France with his friend Youssef Howayek to learn drawing and art. There he meets the teacher, Micheline, and a relationship develops between them. After holding the first exhibition of his drawings, he meets Mary Haskell.

Gibran falls in love with Mary Khoury, who decides to help him in his work. Gibran seeks to collect donations for the war in Lebanon. Gibran gets to know May Ziadeh through letters. Gibran’s tuberculosis becomes more severe, and he recommends that he be buried in Lebanon.
