When El Muhannad travels in a trade convoy, Obeid takes care of his business in his absence. Upon El Muhannad’s return, his wife Basema warns him of Obeid who’s stealing his money, and when he travels again, Obeid decides to seize his farm despite Waddah’s warning to Basema.
As Obeid asks Waddah and Basema for the deeds of El Muhannad’s farm, they refuse to hand them to him. Sweileh tries to persuade Maarouf to buy the farm from Obeid, who informs Basema that El Muhannad died in his travel, while El Muhannad is lost after a raid on his convoy in the desert.
Obeid discovers that Waddah has the deeds of El Muhannad’s farm, so he tries to persuade him to share El Muhannad’s fortune with him after hearing of his death. El Muhannad wanders aimlessly in the streets of Baghdad, begging, after he lost everything. An unknown kills Waddah and seizes the deeds.
As Obeid kills Waddah, he accuses Basema of killing him, whereupon he tries to trick her and persuade her to flee to get rid of her. El Muhannad starts working for Hajj Auf, who calls him Abdullah.
Fayyad hosts Basema in his house after fleeing her village, then she decides to travel to Baghdad, but when his wife learns of his desire to marry Basema, she accuses her of theft. When Hajj Auf tests Abdullah's integrity, he passes the test.
Basema leaves the house of Fayyad, who discovers that she’s El Muhannad’s wife, and sets out to find her, then she disguises herself as a knight to stay at some stranger’s house. As Obeid tries to sell El Muhannad’s lands, the village chief refuses to sign the contracts. Laila wants to marry Abdullah.
As Basema rescues a man, he kidnaps her and claims that she is his servant, whereupon she’s freed by Hajj Auf, and when he harasses her again, he gets killed by Auf, with whom she travels to Baghdad, still believing that El Muhannad is dead.
El Muhannad sells the produce of Hajj Auf and makes a large profit, after suspecting that he wouldn’t be able to.
El Muhannad leaves. Hajj Auf is taken aback as the person who threatened Basema’s life steals his money. When Laila learns of Basema’s closeness with Hajj Auf, she agrees with the unknown person to get to Basema and marry her. El Muhannad is surprised by the loss of his fortune after he returns to Najd.
Laila tells Basema that Auf loves her, while El Muhannad learns that Basema was accused of killing Waddah, and Obeid falsely claims that El Muhannad's property has been sold.
Obeid tries to bribe Hamad so he won’t tell El Muhannad what happened. Laila gives Basema to her chaser, whereas Hajj Auf proposes to Basema, so she tells him that she is married to El Muhannad, but Laila drives a wedge between the two, causing Basema to flee.
El Muhannad discovers that Basema is still alive, while Ammouri informs the village chief that she’s innocent of Waddah’s murder. Auf is surprised as Basema's chaser returns her box of gold.
Laila asks Auf to find Basema to treat her foot injury, while Abu Omar tries to convince the latter to marry again. Upon his treatment, the governor’s son falls for Basema. Auf discovers that Abdullah is actually El Muhannad, who begins his journey to look for Basema.
